I oppose the expansion of Heathrow Airport - I believe that a fully planned out transport infrastructure to be impossible in West London. I favor the idea of a new hub airport in The Thames estuary where transport links would be well thought out and there would be less impact on the lives and the overall health and well - being of Londoners.

We should not be expanding airports, or runways, at all, but increasing rail capacity, and reducing rail fares. It should not be cheaper to fly to Edinburgh from London, than to go by rail, which is far less damaging to the environment. The storm surge at the beginning of December, when water reached its highest level yet at the Thames Barrier, is likely to happen more often with global warming, whichb is exacerbated by increased numbers of flights. Without the Thames Barrier, Kew would probably have been flooded last week, as it has been on a number of occasions before the Barrier was built. The last thing we need is more airport capacity, at Heathrow or elsewhere in Britain, and it would not be necessary if there was better, and much cheaper, rail capacity. (And HS2 is likely to be so expensive that in practice it will not provide that capacity.)

Please think about all the extra noise and pollution that will be suffered by people living under the flightpaths. You and your party would lose all the support of local people in the South-east of the country if this was to happen

My cousin lives in Barnes and the noise and increased plane traffic will spoil this lovely part of London and completely change the residents lifestyle.

Pollution takes many forms and the noise that Heathrow creates is already blighting a large swathe of London. Expanding Heathrow further will only confirm the UK as the dirty man of Europe.

I think we suffer enough from airport noise and are tired of being woken up at 430 in the morning as it is with the first flights. This is also not conducive to a full nights sleep for young children who get woken up. Is third plus runway at Heathrow is very short term thinking why not build an airport by the estuary thus not affecting anyone and providing employment in the South East.
