IF British architects can build a brilliant new airport in the sea for Hong Kong then one can surely be built in the Thames estuary.

Heathrow is an anachronism that successive governments have failed to address, either through lack of courage or vision. Please lets not compound the problems Heathrow poses - now is the time to look to more radical and future proofed solutions.

Business owner and resident, both living and working in Kew will be disrupted. Why, when there are far better alternatives, is the comittee Hell-bent on the most foolish route???

This is terrible. A few people I know are moving away from Surrey and London.

Heathrow has served its purpose. The time has come to find an alternative solution, end noise pollution and not to blight West London further.

Too easy for the committee to expand Heathrow. What we aere expecting is really forward looking ideas. Seem to fail short. Waste of time and money.

Totally crazy idea to have even more planes flying all over the city. A new airport has to be build in a reasonable location. And this government should not postpone the decision cowardly untill after the next election.

Why compound problems at Heathrow when we have a once in a lifetime chance to be bold and solve a problem for our children and grandchildren? Build in the Thames estuary and show the world what we can do!

Heathrow is already vastly over size for its location. If there were not already an airport there, planning permission would be refused to build one because of the noise caused to the vast number of residents. I regret to say that I doubt signatures on a petition will do much. I urge that everyone who objects to this barmy idea should get in their cars (one person per car, please) and drive to Heathrow starting at 7am one Monday morning (date to be agreed) in order personally to deliver a handwritten letter of objection to Heathrow's Chief Executive. I doubt he will care, but I suspect the traffic jam caused would stretch from Luton to Swindon to Gatwick to Southend. The ensuing loss to the economy for a day might make the government think again.

We are strongly against any expansion at Heathrow as it is already overdeloped. The pollution , noise and cogestion would seriously affect our quality of life and health.

Make Heathrow more efficient, as I don't buy the "99% full" line.
