Terrorism : another argument, among so many, against Heathrow expansion is the flightpath over Greater London with crowded population and many historical "targets". Following 9/11 flights were diverted around London. Does this not suggest it was considered not ideal to have the majority of aeroplanes flying so near to central London?

Expansion of Heathrow must be prevented. A third runway would not be the end of it, rest assured a planning application for a fourth runway would surely follow… and a sixth terminal. The lives of everyone living under the flight paths are already blighted with unacceptable noise levels and pollution. Expansion at Heathrow would make these factors unbearable for residents.

To those of us whose sleep and quality of life is blighted by the planes landing at Heathrow, the suggestion that Heathrow will be extended rather than reduced in size is anathema. The right place for new airport capacity is the fast-growing eastern part of London not the already overcrowded west!

I strongly oppose the expansion of Heathrow for reasons of increased noise and pollution of the environment.

We are already woken by aircraft noise at night, and disturbed throughout the day - there should be no expansion of the airport.

Cameron is either very cynical or very naive. Or is that genius, Osbourne, whose unerring political instincts have created Nigel Farage? Either way Cameron is about to lose lifelong his remaining Tory voters in West London. Technocrats like Davies love shiny new airports. They also heavily discount matters that cannot be quantified in monetary terms such as the Environment! Cameron should close this flawed commission now (the Liberals won't object). Failure to do that and we shall not be giving him the benefit of the doubt at the next election.

The aircraft noise from a third runway would have a huge negative impact on our community and our quality of life

No more planes over London please. It will be like Blade Runner soon -- then you can intruduce flying billboards and completely wreck the place.

It's a wealth-desroying move for west Londoners. Not good for anyone.

Expansion at Heathrow would be a complete disaster for the West of London. This is stuck in the groove thinking when we should be planning ahead for the 21st century, when ever increasing is likely to be required. With the importance of London to the UK's economy it is vital that the best solution is found, with a decision as to how/if the planned new rail links will access it.
