Make the polluter pay. If the real cost had to be borne by the airlines then there would be no airport expansion (Heathrow or otherwise).

It is madness to add a runway to Heathrow when better, less disruptive options exist.

A third runway at Heathrow would be disastrous for local residents, not just because of increased aircraft noise but the local infrastructure could not support the increased volume of road traffic to and from the airport

Any expansion at heathrow is an assault on the rights of a million people to have an unstressful, reasonably quiet, clean living environment. It's monstrous and outdated to expand airports in cities… we should follow Hong Kong's lead (a British project) and build an airport far from urban conurbation's on reclaimed land.

Any more aircraft over my home of some 50 years will make my life intolerable. I'm already being woken at 4 am on many mornings and being unable to get back to sleep. During the day, without the alternate runway operation, the non-stop aircraft noise is awful. I fully accepted when moving near to Heathrow in 1975 that there would be aircraft noise but during the last few years it has become increasingly invasive, disrupting my and my neighbours lives with almost unending noise.Enough is enough - no more runways at Heathrow and revert back to no night flights after midnight and before 6 am. So many aircraft flying low over such a built up area is an accident waiting to happen.

No more noise from airports - other industries would not be allowed to create such noise levels.

Not only will the noise be intolerable, but the road traffic will be at a perpetual standstill, making it impossible for us who live off the A4 to leave our houses - we'll be virtual prisoners for much of the day. As for the underground, it is almost impossible to get on the Piccadilly Line trains now at any time of the day

Why expand air travel at all - whatver happened to initiatives on climate change, and this government's promise to be 'green'?

Heathrow already blights West London.
Why do we need a Hub near London. We need only flight for people to come to or leave London. Not a hub to take people, change planes in London, ...from New York to Bombay.

Please no expansion of Heathrow. Enlarging the flightpath and frequency over a major urban area is dangerous, polluting and unimaginative. Be bold, imaginative and long term - build in the Thames estuary for the whole of the 21st century and shun the quick fix.

Dreadful proposal environmentally and the economics are not even proven.
No to Heathrow expansion
