Sure it's nice to help those that need it, but there are more pressing needs that help the local populace that should be prioritized first.
Also with Barrhaven's (and by extension Ottawa's) transit challenges, are we just going to have lines of asylum seekers walking up and down Greenbank to take the bus to wherever social services will be? Sounds like a super dignified experience to me /s.
And also all the funds the city got for this, how and where is that money being allocated? Is it all being spent towards supporting Barrhaven's infrastructure to support these people (and the community challenges that come along with it?) I suspect not, but yeah, this seems poorly thought out, and Barrhaven needs to be built out more before something like this make sense.
Why not retrofit downtown government buildings to house people and they can also help prop up those downtown businesses that needed people to come back to the office post pandemic?

We are overcrowded as is. Not enough services for our current residents and insufficient infrastructures. Find somewhere else to house these tents

Barrhaven can't help these people. We don't have the plases to put them. People should not be in tents over the winter.

I’m not ok with bringing people into our community that have been brought up thinking it’s okay to beat, kill or rape women. You’d be creating a worse environment for people who already don’t feel safe. Not an option!
No Thank you
