I am not against refugee, homeless people or shelters for them. What I want is our politician to locate a proper site with all the necessarily elements to build a solid structure to provide a livable environment for them to reside. And the current Barrhaven site definitely is not the right choice. There are plenty of open land that can fulfill this plan. But then, when did our politician ever get it right the 1st time!!! And they still don't learn from their mistakes.

Also why are you wasting our tax dollars on an independent engineering firm to conduct a study on the Highbury Park site when it's so obvious that it's not a good location for a shelter?
I think you need to decide yourselves where you think a good location should be for a shelter and go visit those locations and discuss this amongst yourselves before wasting our tax money on outside firms and endless studies and reports.
Think if you lived close to a shelter like that would you want it to be close to you? Maybe you will come up with a better answer as to where they should be located.

Barrhaven Resident since 2017.
I strongly oppose the construction of any tent facilities in Barrhaven or any of Canada for that matter.
As said in the letter I received "...location in the heart of Barrhaven and must be used for the expedient development of high-density, transit-oriented homes. There must be a better solution for asylum seekers with long term strategy for their life in Canada."
