This is a poor solution. What is the long-term plan with these? We will shelter 100 people in a "temporary" structure, and then what? Is there something more permanent in the pipeline to replace it? Is there a phase-out plan?
Without a phase-out plan, the City will never be in a position to discontinue the "temporary" shelters once they are occupied, because it would mean evicting 100 people onto the streets. So it will never happen, and the "temporary" shelters will actually be permanent, but with the low quality of something temporary. It's a stopgap to nowhere, which serves absolutely no purpose.

Stop the nonsense. Have a lawful border! Since when did we have so many illegal aliens we need to put them in tax payer tents? This is so sad. Where is our leadership?

I will vote NO to current mayor in next election ... if tent is built in my area. I usually do not vote.

Please leave our community as is. The majority of residents in Barrhaven live there to build families and to foster safety in a quiet community. The proposal to build tents to hold asylum seekers goes against what our community has built. Please consider this petition and seek other communities that would be better suited for this project.

This is a totally inappropriate idea for the community. I have a vested interest in this as I have helped family purchase a home in the area.

It is unconscionable that this project has made it this far into the process with no publication or notification to the residents of the area who will be directly impacted by this project. Barrhaven does not have the support systems the asylum seeking individuals who will be using such a proposed facility will need. This does not also include the fact that some of the very few green spaces within Barrhaven will be clear cut for such a project which impacts the environment. I am shocked and dismayed by the city’s lack of transparency with residents about this project.
Would you like it in your backyard?
Please do not destroy Barrhaven community
