I don’t want to displace anyone, but at the same time, the points made in this petition are very valid as a lifelong Barrhaven resident (new & old Barrhaven).

Barrhaven, is a suburb deprived of LRT access and efficient bus access to downtown . It is not an appropriate location to house single male asylum seekers and perhaps a shelter for homeless near schools and kids.

Even UN high commissioner for refugees asked Canadian government to curtail influx of asylum seekers in such huge numbers. Best place for it Rideau Gardens cricket park.

Serious consideration needs to be given re using mothballs federal building closer to areas where people can access public transit, social services and resources. The old Uplands base which already has sewer, water, school, arena, lots of outdoor space and other buildings which could be used for a variety of purposes, is a better idea in my opinion.

I strongly oppose this tent city. It is located on a high visibility corridor. A long term tent city is not the way to welcome and present our community.

This is not the proper way to house people.
