No TENTS !!! Barrhavan already has enough people and traffic….

Dear Mayor I want to express my strong opposition to the proposed plan to build a shelter for single men, whether refugees or homeless individuals, in our family-oriented suburb. While I understand the need to support vulnerable populations, I believe that placing such a facility in a residential area primarily occupied by families is deeply concerning for several reasons. First, the introduction of a shelter of this nature raises significant concerns about safety and security for families with children. It is crucial to consider the potential risks associated with housing single men, some of whom may be dealing with complex issues, in close proximity to schools, parks, and residential homes. Additionally, this decision could have long-term impacts on property values and the overall character of the neighborhood. Family suburbs are meant to be safe, nurturing environments for children and families, and the presence of such a facility could disrupt the community dynamic that many residents value. I urge you to reconsider the location of this shelter and explore alternative sites that would be more suitable for this purpose, such as areas with better access to support services, rather than placing it in the heart of a family-oriented community.

We don't have the proper infrastructure to deal with the current residents of Barrhaven. How could we possibly bring more people that need extra supports?

Needs further review. Barrhaven does not have the infrastructure or policing to support this.

Such a facility in Barrhaven will have the potential to lower the resale value of homes in the adjacent area. Homeowners will need to be compensated for such a loss. Additionally, crime has been on the rise in the Barrhaven area and such a transient population has the potential to increase this even further.

Not enough info has been shared with the community. This seems way to rushed. We can’t even handle the street racing how will Barrhaven handle all the issues that comes with these temp structures.

We have enough issues going on in Barrhaven that can’t get under control. Gangs, murders, cars racing at all hours of the night etc. we don’t need to add to this!!!

This would be a disaster. There is not enough family doctors, in Barrhaven. The transportation system is terrible and I have a young daughter that would need to walk by this daily for school. No thanks!

150 adults; I’m assuming most are men. I’d be much happier if it were women and children.

For our safety and for our kids safety.

Warehousing people does not provide appropriate and safe housing and has very poor outcomes for the people being "housed" and the surrounding community. If we wish to give this traumatized population a chance to succeed, we owe it to them to do better.

Barrhaven is not the place for it. We have horrible traffic as it is and schools are packed over capacity

Instead of shelters in a residential area consider spending money on family orientated ideas ( bowling alley, kids play lands ext ) to benefit the residence who currently live here and build these asylum shelters In a more suitable area that’s not a family orientated
