As a low income Barrhaven resident, I can say for certain, Barrhaven does NOT have the necessary resources for these refugees will absolutely need. Barrhaven is lacking BIG TIME when it comes to community resources. Understandably, these refugees will need some accessable mental health services, Barrhaven has NONE for low income families. Our food bank can hardly keep up with the current demand of food insecure residents. Our medical clinics are already overloaded, people can't find doctors, walk in clinics are beyond packed. The shopping in Barrhaven has nothing suited for low income or new comers. The location here is Barrhaven would not be suitable for these people. You are basically dropping these people in a place, in an area that has NOTHING for them. It really is extremely disheartening that they would do this to people.

A big NO to Sprung shelters in Barrhaven. There are no surrounding support services for these people. It will lead to spread of crime, drug use, assaults, theft, and sexual assaults amongst the community. It will instill fear in Barrhaven residents. It will lead to community decline.

I don’t think this is an appropriate spot for this tent in the suburbs.

NO to tents and/or shelters in Barrhaven. Don't take them in if you have nowhere to put them. The federal government sold a bunch of buildings, USE THEM. How would these so called decision makers feel if we parked one of these tents in their backyard or in front of their home? How you like that, huh?

Barrhaven already contributes above and beyond to the city comparing to communities like Riverside South which have enough green areas and could host the tent without problem. Barrhaven has grown too much and crime and lack of school spaces is already making it hard for those of us taxpayers who live here.
Enough!
Thanks,
N.

There must be more transparency and consultation with any community impacted by these major changes to the neighbourhood

This is not a good way to spend tax payers money. If we can’t properly house these people, then don’t bring them over. This is not fair the them, and not to the citizens.

Without the proper infrastructure and transit, Barrhaven is a poor choice. As it is, water pressure is poor and our electrical grid is in the process of being reconfigured after the derecho. The city wants to add additional population to this?

The community cannot manage this infrastructure right now, let alone two. There has to be a better solution.
Better place than Barrhaven.
