Put down town so they can see the city

poorly thought idea all around. Release all documents, social media communications, and names of people involved in this project or who have been involved and or influenced or are influencing etc. that led to this idea, proposal and proposed location(s)

I already live in a very vulnerable sector and witness the strain every day please reconsider placing this shelter near my home

Please build houses for all people .

We paid heavy premiums to be in a safe neighbourhood for our children. A communal tent is not safe for the community nor the “asylum seekers”. One will go mad in those conditions. Nor is it a good alternative to homeless shelters. Rehabilitation programs are. A tent is not the answer for anyone.

This tent is going to cause so many more problems in an already problematic are of town. This will cause us to sell and move. NO TENTS!

Absolutely do not support this. We need to find a more permanent solution like affordable housing.

First and foremost, to heard people into a tent structure is such a ridiculous idea. These people need dignity as they flee difficult situations. How is this supposed to give them any sense of dignity to be put in a glorified barn and treated like livestock? Secondly, there are no amenities in the field in which council has designated for the structure. I think Ottawa can do better than this.

Safety and security issues are a valid worry, with no clear assurances on how the shelter will be managed to prevent increased crime or disturbances. Property values may also plummet, unfairly penalizing homeowners who have invested in the area. Moreover, the challenge of integrating asylum seekers, who may face cultural and language barriers, raises serious doubts about whether sufficient support systems will be in place to prevent social discord. The area’s infrastructure, including roads and utilities, is simply not prepared to absorb a sudden increase in population, which will result in traffic congestion and degraded services. What’s more, the lack of meaningful consultation with the community shows a disregard for residents’ voices, fostering resentment and opposition. Finally, the uncertainty about the shelter’s long-term impact casts a shadow over future development, leaving the community in limbo. In light of these pressing concerns, the proposal for this shelter should be reconsidered.

Downtown seems a better location. Not a tent but a building

I have lived in Barrhaven for almost 30 years. This seems like a poorly thought out solution to the issue at hand and it is not transparent. We are cutting transit to our residents. The lack of policing is evident! Rushing into this decision at such a high cost with what is deemed » temporary » housing will have long term higher cost and poor social outcomes with the lack of services at present. Of course every councillor will approve it if it is not in their area-

Inhumane way to live and stop the mass immigration.

I agree strongly that Barrhaven is not the best location for such a structure.

A Federal problem should be dealt with on federal property. Lots of room in the north

There are better locations, closer to the appropriate resources, than Barrhaven. Please find another area for these structures, more suited to the needs of the eventual residents.

This cannot happen for the sake of our children and community.

Use vacant buildings instead this is a costly tax payer venture.

Please don’t put any tents in barrhaven

This area has not been properly looked after in terms of infrastructure to accommodate for all the new housing and development that has gone on. Crime rates are up and there's very little police presence. Barrhaven residents are feeling maxed out.
