This is not wanted in Barrhaven and why has the federal government decided to put this in our backyard

I believe the proposed tent-like structure in Barrhaven, is unsuitable for our suburban community due to inadequate infrastructure and services. Barrhaven lacks the social supports, transportation, and facilities required to accommodate a large-scale shelter, and placing it here could negatively impact local schools, businesses, and green spaces. Zoning regulations and legal precedents support locating such facilities in areas with better access to services, like Alta Vista, Orléans, or Woodroffe, where transportation and social infrastructure are more developed. Please No Tents in Barrhaven!

The MFIPPA process takes at least 30 calendar days, it’s likely that the evaluation report will already be completed and the sites selected by then. This timing doesn’t make sense to me. It’s unacceptable that site selections could proceed without the public having access to the full list of considered properties and the selection criteria. This lack of transparency undermines the community’s trust in the process. Please release the both lists now.

Agree! 1. A more human solution should be considered. The proposed tent could not stand the winter in Ottawa. 2. An established accommodation with necessary renovation should be considered instead of building new structure with higher cost.

im a 16 year old student and im concerned for my safety

No tent in Barrhaven! The proposed site is only 200 meters away from my house! We are so sad and disappointed with this proposal, which might impact us a lot and bring many potential issues: · Safety issue: a temporary sprung structure to house refugees will bring potential safety issue in the community, especially the neighborhood nearby like ours. Can't imagine that strangers wondering around the house. I will worry about the safety of my girls as well as other people. · Traffic issue: There is heavy traffic in both Greenbank Rd and Highbury Park Dr. It is dangerous to have a temporary structure at that spot for drivers, pedestrians and refugees live inside. · Private Property: Barrhaven community has been well designed and maintained by our neighbors for years with valuable properties. A temporary sprung structure to house refugees will lower the value of our private properties. None of property owners and people living in Barrhaven would like to see it happen.

We don't need the tent in Barrhaven which is quite family oriented safe neighborhood.

I am signing this petition to express concern for both the safety of our community, especially our young children, and the well-being of the asylum seekers housed in tent-like structures in Barrhaven. This is not a safe or suitable solution for vulnerable individuals. We need a more responsible approach that ensures community safety while treating those seeking refuge with dignity and respect. I stand with local councillors and MPPs in urging the government to take immediate action.

Barrhaven is in dire need of a hospital and industrial/business facilities . The available space should be used for developing infrastructure that will make the residents' lives better.
