First of all Refugees need homes not tents for their own dignity as they have already suffered greatly in other countries. Secondly, we do not have the infrastructure to build affordable housing fast enough or to house vulnerable and homeless people or low income earners. At present people are already going hungry because if they pay rent they can't buy food and medication. There are already over a thousand people in Ottawa and surrounding areas that need housing. Also, I believe that at present 1 in 7 people use food banks in Ottawa including Nepean. Please take care of the people that are already here that require help and could be integrated in our society. Lastly, many in Ottawa do not have family doctors. Bringing in more refugees would probably crush our healthcare as they could have complex issues after already living in tents elsewhere. We have the doctors, nurses and the overall health care system that is already overworked and cannot deliver and meet the health care that is presently needed for the people that already live here. Take care of the present people living in Ottawa which are many.
