Having worked 30 years at TPL I've seen firsthand the kind of violence that happens in a public area this is WITH supervision. I can imagine what would happen without supervision!!

I think the idea of staffless libriaries is ridiculous. so much theft and vandalism could occur. Plus, more importantly, loss of jobs. It is time to rethink this horrible idea. You want to cut costs? Try cutting back on salaries and bonuses to the "sunshine group" Nobody deserves the kind of money they receive.

Staff-less libraries are not libraries - unsafe, unsanitary, unfair

intermediation without the human; & then there are the not insignificant concerns attached to unsupervised de facto community centres where the more fragile are in the same space as the risk-makers sb

Libraries without librarians is like a plane without a pilot

Having worked in public libraries for three decades I know the value of helpful staff and a safe environment.

How about a staffless 2018 Superconference? Support your members! I hope to see OLA stand to defend library workers - am strongly considering non-renewal for next year.

I guess you're the Ontario Library Association...as in the buildings, not the staff who actually provide the services that make the buildings places worth visiting. This pilot project is a terrible idea, and the OLA should not be supporting it in any way.

As well as being an insult to staff, this endangers the collection.

I'm against staff less libraries because of concern for public safety and quality of service amongst other things.

I enjoy the very helpful assistance librarians and library staff provide and feel they are a vital service.

I'm very dissapointed. I thought about getting an OLA membership, and looks like I won't be anymore because of this!

in order to keep libraries safe they need to have staff in them.
