No sport hunting of mountain lions in the Wildcat Hills!

I strongly urge you to NOT allow hunting of mountain lions in Nebraska. There is no logical or practical reason for hunting of this species given that they have shown to pose no danger to humans or livestock in the state.

Trophy hunting is disgusting. It should become illegal everywhere.

Please donot allow recreaional cougar hunting in Nebraska. These cats have an important role in the ecosystem andthe population is just beginning to recover.

Research has shown that hunting cougars actually increases human conflict. Cougars maintain their own local populations by young makes dispersing or being killed by dominant males, so they won't eliminate game species like deer. We need to stop putting public resources into this misguided and detrimental policy.

As is so often the case with indiscriminate, recreational killing of wildlife species, this Nebraska 'plan' actually increases the numbers of unsocialized juveniles in a given species and destabilizes the interspecies food chain that nature intelligently manages without human meddling and mismanagement. Allowing such hunts may serve the need of a few fringe groups of humans to kill and dominate wildlife species, but it does nothing to help the ecosystem or the difficult living conditions wildlife must endure to survive. We believe this 'plan' from Nebraska Game and Parks Commission deserves to be defeated. It is reckless and the antithesis of sound biological stewardship of our natural resources, contradicting the broader public interest and public trust doctrines.

There is no justifiable reason to hunt mountain lions. Recreational killing of any species tarnishes the reputation of hunters and conservationists and fuels public contempt. Please do not allow this.

Mountain lions are a keystone species that feeds many other species. Killing predators for sport accelerates the destruction of ecosystems already compromised by habitat loss and climate change. Do not allow sport hunting of mountain lions in the Wildcat Hills.

Thanks for working to create a paradigm shift in the North American Management Model. A flawed model that is no longer in keeping with the land and population realities of our current era

In addition to the preservation issue, there are safety issues for the residents nearby who will also be prey to hunters, stray bullets, and other dangers which occur with opening a season.

In today's world of crashing biodiversity, we need to do all we can to protect native predators, not kill them. Additionally, hunting of native predators is done in a cruel and unethical manner, such as hounding and often leaves orphaned lions too young to adequately fend for themselves. Please forbid the hunting of mountain lions in Nebraska!
