We petition Millburn school district to no school
The streets of Millburn/Short Hills are still quite narrow, icy, and snowy. This makes transportation to and from school very difficult. Teachers as well as parents, will have too drive through dangerous conditions. The streets are still not meant for driving or walking. Streets rae extremely difficult to turn on, making simple driving very hard.
The melting snow from today will freeze overnight and make for icy roads, and more dangerous conditions. Icy roads are conditions no one likes to deal with.
Buses have gotten into accidents many times on icy roads, and these roads are hard to deal with for our bus drivers who come out of town early to drive in horrible driving conditions.
Teachers from out of town face different problems to begin with, streets in other towns may not be plowed well, which leads for difficulty getting to school, we must respect the work teachers put in, and take this into consideration.
The district has also only used one of three allotted snow days, and our school year will not be greatly interrupted by this snow day.

The district is ignoring the dangerous road conditions we all see outside our windows. Call the superintendent office right now and demand they prioritize our safety over the school calendar.

The sidewalks are not cleared for every street and someone can get hurt. My daughter got a concussion last year because roads were slippery when she was walking. Plus, there will be too much traffic since short hills roads are not all cleared
Other schools are having no school tomorrow and it needs to be taken into consideration that a school can't function without teachers. and if other towns have no school due to the bad weather how are we going to be at school tomorrow when teachers will be able to get to work?
The roads and sidewalks are icy and are not suited for people to be walking/driving on. It's putting people at danger, and I think missing one day of school would be better than putting students at risk.
I sign this petition because some student HAVE to WALK and most side walks in town still have snow or they don't have salt to melt the ice. Another problem is that the roads are still dangerous because they a lot of snow in town and it makes it difficult to get to school or home.
Why we should not have school - •Backroads in Millburn are very ice and dangerous for commute •Teachers who live in different towns will have a hard time driving to school; other towns in NJ are not fully plowed •Coming home may be an issue, icy, busy, roads

Missing one day of instruction given hazardous driving/walking conditions is a small price to pay for student and parent safety. Time could be made up if necessary by starting the school day fifteen minutes early for a specified number of days.
