The roads are icy outside and dangerous. Some people can't get to their cars because they experienced the storm worse than others. Students don't all live in the same area. Some can live in East Greenwich or Conventry. They may not be able to get to school or it may be a dangerous idea to leave their house on the icy roads. I am starting a petition to cancel school on February 13,2017.

Updates

February 13, 2017

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many people have reached out to share their own concerns about these icy roads. Reading your stories about trying to commute in this weather makes it clear that we are all worried about the same safety risks. I am working on getting these concerns in front of the right people.

February 13, 2017

I am honestly a bit overwhelmed by how many of you feel the same way about these dangerous roads. Seeing this kind of response is proof that keeping everyone safe is the only thing that matters right now.

Its not that I don't want school but its hazardous to have school. The buses are going to be late to the stops making everyone wait in the freezing cold. Plus some buses are going to be late to the schools, so you could already have missed like an hour of school. Its not like were going to have a long summer anyways.

a bunch of schools are already closed, and it makes no sense to have it open if parents are probably gonna keep their kids tomorrow anyways because of the snow, and have to mark absences. Plus the snowing stops at 7am, an hour before school starts which means the roads are icy. On Friday, a school in Rhode Island was open and the bus flipped over and because of the ice and kids died. No one wants to take that risks. It will be on you if something happens because of the snow, and it's not like we're missing much if we make it up At the end of the year, people aren't gonna forget how to do useless algebra overnight so why does it matter.

The streets will be full of ice, & black ice. That will lead to slipping, car crashes, and much more. Please consider canceling school. It is just too dangerous!

the sidewalks aren't plowed and i have to talk to and from school and so do other people so just cancel school already, plus we have tests that no one studied for

I also agree because I don't live close to school and if I were to go to school I would like to go in safe weather without snow, slush, and ice all on the roads causing drifts sliding or even accidents

We should not have school it is very dangerous and icy and that could lead to something serious. An accident could happen and that's not funny
