No outdoor High Power Rifle Range in residential neighborhood – Coventry Rhode Island

the idea of making a gun range so close to a primary school is absurd, not to mention all the families that live here for the peace and quiet.

Gun clubs don't bother me however I think they should be in a more secluded area. Not in the middle of Coventry.

This is too close to my home, I moved to this area just a few years ago primarily to have some more peace and quiet and to enjoy the sounds of nature. Our family, including my two young daughters, are outside nearly every day in spring and summer and do not want this to be established.

Why would you even consider a range near an elementary school?

No need to be in a residential area when there are acres of woods in New England.

Why do it an area near a school and in a neighborhood where people live? This idea isn't the brightest, do it at least somewhere else where residents shouldn't feel dangered with bullets flying in the air. This isn't safe to the school, or any of the nearby neighborhoods. 1: It should be indoors in which case nobody outside will face the risk of getting hurt 2: It should be somewhere else, relocate it nowhere near a school or neighborhood - where people won't have to listen to the noise all day 3: The value of houses will plummet. What will the residents do if they have to move and their house has no value, all because of the shooting range? Nobody's going to want to hear shots fired all day and they won't want to live next to a shooting range

Not liking that my son goes to the school what happens if a stray bullet hits a student when at recess this is scary to me

As the father of a former child that attended Washington Oak, I appreciated the school for the teachers, but also the playground, and the safety I felt watching him go onto the bus. I thought of it as the shining star in the district but now that I see it's going through something like this; if this is passed I wouldn't feel the same way. I would pity the parents for having to go through such an unfair time if this happens.

If this was an indoor, sound proof range it would cause no issues, but the dangers and risks to such a peaceful community are too high.

The fact that this is even a possibility is atrocious, their is so many issues with this idea. Considering it would be an open fire range, it would attract too much of the wrong kind of traffic; gun traffic. During recess children who are used to peace and quite of the country-side, will hear military grade weapons being used. All it'll take is one single person with a bad idea to cause chaos. I would likely attempt to have my child switch to a safer school in the district.

This would be a noise disturbance to the community and the neighboring school system. I would approve an indoor facility.

We lived near the Tiverton Rod & Gun Club and it was a nightmare. There are other places for people to shoot that would not impact our community in this way.

I live in Coventry and it is a great place to live if you want to live somewhere safe and quiet. If a shooting range is near Washington Oak Elementary School and in the neighborhood of Audubon Lane, they are consistently going to hear gunshots. How will you know if it's a real shooter or if it's just the shooting range? Property values will decrease and the shooting range should at least be somewhere not near an elementary school or neighborhood. Put it somewhere else not near homes of residents in Coventry.
