My mobile home is the whole basis of my husband's and I retirement income by being able to sell the mobile home and split the money in the next few years. He is disabled and works in a low paying job part time and I have severe back problems.. If this opt in proposal goes through, our property value will plummet and we will have very little to retire on.

This is the only affordable housing that is left. They should have used the money in the right places with they were getting the increases all along. Now that they have misused the money they want to pss the expenses down to us. Not fair.

I just moved into Westwinds recently. It was my LAST option for housing. I would have had to move out of the bay area if this affordable housing was not available. Since moving in I have noticed how many handicapped children and older citizens live here and sooo many children. I am scared to think what would happen to all of them if Rent Control did not exist. There comes a time when a city has to think of it's lower income citizens and do what they can to support them. Please help me to stay in the bay area that I grew up in and not force me to start my life over again at the age of 60 somewhere else where I would not know anybody!!!!

As a home owner in the Westwinds park, my rent control is very important to me and my family. The bay area is very expensive to life in. We cannot afford a major rent increase. Please support your people...

We live in a mobile park community with over 800 spaces. These spaces range up to 1400.00 a month. For a piece of land you do not own. If you do the math, That is
Hundred of thousands of dollars.
We pay for electricity, trash, sewer, and all maintenance on the site.
Rent control is a must to this gluttony of wealth.

There are many MANY people that reside in mobile home parks and other rent controlled housing in San Jose! In their effort to extort what they are calling fair rent from these tenants the par k owners are determined to displace many of the people that keep San Jose running. You can't have a city full of high wage earners (which the park owners are fantasizing about and seeing dollar signs because of) with no low income workers. The rent controls on this special housing makes the difference between well adjusted and cared for families, and homeless families. Between reasonable service fees (for the worker bees) and skyrocketing fees because the salaries will forever be chasing the incomes necessary to afford the rent which the owners are demanding. If the owners want to make their fortune on real estate, they should invest in a high return market, not in rent controlled property. Instead, they bought into a rent controlled system, then expected to throw their tenants under the bus and destroy the rent control which sustains their community. This housing is rent controlled for a reason. If they want to make the kind of profit they are fantasizing about, they should invest elsewhere. To make matters worse, the owners are going to start the same campaign of property value devastation that was used in Los Gatos, years ago; When tenants try to sell they mobile homes for fair market value, the park discourages buyers by informing them that they are selling the park - which squelches all deals. When the seller is about to loose all, the park moves in and offers penny's on the dollar; thereby effectively stealing their property and persecuting them. This cannot be allowed to stand! The City of San Jose has an obligation to defend and protect it's citizens! To shelter the disadvantaged from the greed of money hungry investors. Rent controlled property needs owners that are interested in the tenants, in the way of life which sustains them and makes the community stronger;

We rely on the City, the entity that created rent control FOR A GOOD REASON, to defend the original reasoning for this control.
