Unbelievable that Anyone would Still believe Pipelines are the Solution

I lost my drinking water, my well, to the impacts of shale gas development in Susquehanna County. I was fortunate to be able to move. I stand with Memphians against the Valero, Plains All and Byhalia Pipelines.

There is no reason to trust Plains All American Pipeline, L.P. and Valero Energy Corporation, the partners behind Byhalia Pipeline LLC, with the safety of the Memphis Sands aquifer. In developing the much longer Diamond Pipeline, the same partners planned 48 water crossings in Arkansas outside the Army Corps of Engineers' regulatory purview. The application of eminent domain during the pre-construction phase of the Diamond Pipeline foreshadowed what is happening now to landowners in the path of the Byhalia Pipeline. Ultimately, let's not forget that Plains All American Pipeline is responsible for over 30,000 barrels of crude oil spilled in North America and in the Pacific Ocean in the last 10 years. Let's stop the expansion.

No fossil fuel pipelines they are notorious for leaking and causing environmental hazards.

No pipeline. No oil in the soil!

No more pipeline infrastructure.... billions invested prolongs the just transition, and every dollar spend is a bounty on the heads of those who perpetuate these means of murder. Billions of dislocated and starved and drowned victims around the world will be your just desert. It is first degree murder you are committing. You will pay dearly.

We don't need the pipeline. We need clean drinking water.

Time to grow up and do the right thing. No more obfuscating the risk. NO OIL in OUR SOIL!

I am adamantly against this pipeline and the effect on the community, water and soil. This would run through my neighborhood in Desoto county as well many other neighborhoods and it should be opposed by Memphis and Mississippi residents and government.

Please say NO to the Pipeline. We have mostly clean water- let’s keep it that way!

I understand the importance of reliable fuel for electricity and our power needs in general; however, I do not believe the construction of an oil pipeline is the way to go. Pipelines are notorious for being built in poor/low middle class-socioeconomic communities with few ways to protect themselves from the inherent risks that pipelines bring. Not only does the initial construction lead to possible evictions, but the inherent risk that oil pipelines cost to their surroundings can be great. Especially for Memphis, which relies on water from an aquifer. We have enjoyed many years of pristine water, and I believe that to be much more important and worth protecting then the potential benefits a pipeline may provide. I hope that you reconsider allowing pipeline construction in the area.

I believe the Pipeline is contrary to the economic and structural changes that need to happen in Memphis, and in fact contributes to the many issues that have driven Memphis to the point it is at.

This pipeline threatens one of the most amazing about Memphis: our pristine aquifer.

Please do not make this terrible decision in risking the health of Memphians. Those pipelines will break down our core over time and diminish the land. Memphians deserve more than to be treated like cows lead off to slaughter. Our neighborhoods are Memphis history. Capitalism at its finest. This will not prevail. Do not let them ruin our city.

Creativity and grit reside in the neighborhoods of Memphis and if they are destroyed by pollution and greed the city will not survive.

I am against this construction. I believe it will endanger our city, and further entrench our addiction to fossil fuels.

This is unacceptable! This pipeline is absolutely not worth the environmental impacts to vulnerable populations.

Pipelines LEAK; it’s not a matter of if, but when, and how much. Clean, renewable energy can create jobs and provide us with our energy. We want clean energy, not environment-destroying pipelines!
