The Illinois Legislature is about to give away hundreds of millions of dollars in tax breaks to the 1%! The Chicago Mercantile Exchange (which made over $2 billion last year) would get breaks of $85 million annually and Sears (which lost over $100 million this year) would get $15 million of tax relief annually. Sears ALREADY squeezed millions from the state when they moved to Hoffman Estates. Enough! The state is billions of dollars in the hole and owes our nonprofits agencies hundred of millions of dollars for providing essential services to our neediest citizens. If we give these greedy companies the total proposed package of $218 million in tax breaks that's $218 million LESS revenue we will have to pay our state's bills. See
http://trib.in/vvL1AV for the story. Trib columnist calls these greedy companies "shameless" @
http://tinyurl.com/ShamelessCompanies.We citizens of Illinois demand our legislators immediately STOP this disgraceful caving into corporate extortion. We say "NO!" to tax give-aways to these and other Illinois companies.
This is total insanity. Why are we paying for their tax breaks when the state is broke???
