Support Local Control of Education - Get Missouri Out Of Common Core

Common core is a very bad idea for all of America. It takes away what makes America great.

To our state representatives, please do not allow your vote to be bought by special interests.

This is politics pure and simple and a method to control what our children learn. It will result in the frther dumbing down of our educational system for politics.

I am in support of the upcoming state legislation to end Common Core in Missouri. This training is often false and promotes only one agenda without truth. I am tired of our country playing to the lowest common denominator, rather than striving for a higher standard we continue to dumb down our classes and standards. It is time to return to fundamental classes for all disciplines and praise achievement rather than try and equalize everyone. That is not a plan for success.

I have been against common core from the beginning. All children are not a like. Some excel and some need some more help. We can not slow down the ones who want to excel. Common core will dummy down a generation and where will we be at that point? Not good for America. We need to EXCEL. We need to teach our children that we are not all equal when it comes to learning. We need to make America GREAT again. Common core will ruin all that. It needs to stop now.

The federal government has no business propagandizing our children.

Common Core is wrong on so many levels.

Government has no place mandating curriculum. Get OUT.

Common Core is an outrage. The Federal Government has NO RIGHT to dictate education standards to the States. This is a States Rights Issue, and this program MUST BE STOPPED!

Please keep control of our education at the local level.

I am against the Common Core Standards. I do not want our education system to leave local control. Many programs have demonstrated the failure of Federal Administration. Please, please get Missouri out of Common Core!

As a father of four with three children in public school, I have seen first hand the negative impact of common core standards and the no child left behind program. It is killing the desire to succeed in my kids.

We reject the Federal Government's intrusion into our education system and want control over what is taught in our classroom returned to our state and local school boards. • Common Core removes control of our state k-12 education standards from Missouri and puts it in the hands of private trade organizations who wrote and copyrighted the standards and who are not accountable to the public which pays for their implementation. • It allows the federal government to dictate the terms of our teacher evaluations. • It makes it practically impossible for local school districts to control their costs because independent consortia develop assessment tools which our districts must use. These on-line assessments are not only many times more expensive than our existing MAP tests, they are a technical impossibility for many schools in our state who do not have broadband access to the internet.

Get the Federal Government out of our education system.

Common core is teaching ignorance.

We need to get Missouri out of Common Core.

I fully support any legislation that will stop the dumbing down and tracking of our young people by tyrants in the federal government. Additionally this is why we should support legislation that stops the implementation of Agenda 21. It is all part of the same grand BS. Stand up Missouri and stop it.

I am against having teacher being dictated how to teach with scripts and with limited teaching styles because individuals learn in different ways. Also, from what I have seen in the curriculum, students are expected to perform above what they are known to be able to do at certain ages. Standards are needed, but should they not come from a researched-based background rather than a corporate one that does not have any accountability for what it is proposing. Also, who would be better equipped and knowledgeable about standards: private organizations or educators who are in the field? Furthermore, what a disservice it is to our youth ~ our future leaders~ to have their teachers' compensation be based upon their performance? My child already feels sick from stress when it comes to her "big school-wide" testing because of the stress her teacher placed on her. How much more stress will students be under to perform? Are we looking for performances or knowledge growth? Common core, as it stands now, is clearly not in the best interest of our children and should be fought against.
