Common Core is a program that does not work, causes separation between parents and THEIR kids, is a waste of time for student, and causes states to lose their individual control/freedom and gives it to the federal governement. Sounds like Nazism all over again.

Common Core is about total control of our children's education..We all know it's jmplementation was done in a ''back door'' manner.Data collection of all kinds, curricullum that is owned by very questionable entities, and unknown costs in the future. My children's education through the public school system has been sold out. Please stop this madness fom going any farther down the road of total Federal Government takeover. \\\\\\

I SUPPORT BILLS SB 514 & SB 798 WHICH PROHIBIT THE ADOPTION OF 'COMMON CORE' IN THE STATE OF MISSOURI. I, AS A CITIZEN OF MISSOURI, AM STRONGLY OPPOSED TO THE ERADICATION OF THE STATE RIGHT TO SELF DETERMINE CURRICULUM AND EDUCATION STANDARDS WITHIN THIER BORDERS. FORFEITURE OF THOSE RIGHTS TO THE FEDERAL "COMMON CORE" AGENDA IS NOT GOOD FOR OUR CHILDREN, OUR SCHOOLS, OUR STATE, OR OUR COUNTRY.

Common Core is a definite overreach by the Federal Government into the privacy of the lives of families and what is being taught to our children and grandchildren.

The Government has no business being involved in how or what our children is taught in schools. Those matters need to be left up to the parents, local school boards and the State !

Teaching children to a test is not truly teaching children life skills needed. Let's get back to teaching children for the sake of teaching children. They are our future!

I grew up with a sister who had learning disabilities. When she graduated from high school, her reading-comprehension level was that of a sixth grader, and she greatly struggled with abstract learning concepts. But that did not mean she was not a hard worker and gifted in certain areas! Because she was able to take classes in line with her capabilities--some advanced and some more general--she was able to do well in her classes and graduate with confidence in her abilities. She was able to make the time to run and get involved in community affairs. The running was vital to her health, as she has both a lung and then had a liver disease (she has since had a transplant). It would have been very difficult for her to do this, had she had to keep up with courses that did not fit the way her brain functioned. Now in just a few short months, she will graduate with a degree in exercise science and plans to pursue additional schooling. All of these might not have been possible had she been forced into common core--because she might not have had the confidence or health to go to college. Please--kids are not all the same! God made them uniquely different, with strengths in different areas. Even though I did very well academically, math was not my strong point. I challenged myself to a high level of learning, but there came a point that it went over my head, so I was able to channel my learning toward an advanced music course, which helped prepare me for my college major. Recognize the uniqueness of each kids! Counselors should challenge students and their parents to enroll in the courses that are right for them. It should not be up to the federal government to do so.

I also reject the idea that the federal government knows more than locals about our teacher's & children's needs.

I believe the educational systems in our schools should be under the control of our state and the local school boards.

We need to keep State control of our education standards. Money cannot buy control of the education system , parents and residents need to maintain this control.

Please - get Common Core out of Missouri education! It is teaching our children to be like robots - not to think for themselves. Teaching a totally untested math format that doesn't make sense is horrific! Not teaching the truth about the history of the USA is "wrong"!! I have served on my school board...cannot imagine having to see the children taught this junk and perhaps have the state education people not helping our local schools get rid of this!! Teachers cannot teach what they know is true and right - and this clamp down by the Feds on what can be taught will just get worse and worse if we let this happen! Be the intelligent people you are "supposed" to be and stand against it for the future of these children!!!!!!!!!!

As a retired educator and citizen, I strongly oppose the Common Core Curriculum. Give control back to parents, teachers, local and state school districts. Our country needs educated students, not programmed robots. Federal Government is imposing entirely too much control over our schools and our children and this is just an additional venue to collect and store personal information on our children.
