no mid season draft especially without monetary compensation. Clubs are clearly disadvantaged with the minimum resources they already have let alone losing contracted players mid season.

How are state league clubs supposed to remain competitive when their best players leave mid way through the season. The club I support lost their two best midfielders. We are struggling anyway before this latest raid by the AFL

Mid season draft is detrimental to all, including the players drafted. How? Because the player can potentially miss the experience of finals, even a grand final with their team mates. The team itself can have it's finals chances derailed because key players have been plucked from the team. The drafted player has no guarantee of an AFL game, they may end up warming the bench or languishing in the VFL. There is no disadvantage to an AFL club waiting until end of season to draft players.

As much as we wish our players well and want them to get the opportunity at the highest level the Afl should be forced to offer drafted players contracts for remainder of this season and the next local clubs must be compensated. My club Glenelg has worked hard for a long time to become competitive and now has to replace a quality player who has had a big influence this season good luck Lachie Hosie .

The SANFL is a competition in its own right. The mid year. Draft is an act of bullying in the workplace and breaches any regard for both player or club and is anti competitive. It’s a dreadful act!

Just another nail in the SANFL coffin. I’ve lost a lot of interest in the SANFL since the inception of the AFL reserves sides and now the mid season draft has just about killed off any interest I did have.
