Leave the sanfl alone its not fair on clubs to lose players half way through the season .its impossible to replace them .

SANFL Clubs might as well shut up shop. Between the AFL reserves teams destroying the competitions integrity and AFL clubs stealing players half way through a season, how can the coaches of any of our eight clubs look any of the players in the eye and demand anything. Only to have every plan ripped up by the whims of clubs from another competition.

Having the mid-season draft is damaging the States local leagues. The Clubs get no compensation for having their best players torn away from their home Clubs.

I am fully supportive of the initiative raised by Craig Lewis and members of the SANFL community . Our investment into our clubs and the future of a competitive league must be preserved . The integrity of a player contract and the commitment to success for a full season of SANFL football is more important than the whims and arrogance of the AFL .

As a West Adelaide supporter I think the mid season draft is a joke, this wonderful club is finding this season tough with only 1 win and to lose 2 key players that most definitely is not ideal, I wish the 2 boys well but for the West Adelaide football club this hurts.

As a life time West Adelaide supporter, current cheer squad member, former corperate sponsor of the West Adelaide Football Club and current member of coterie group "The Westonians" while being a former committee member of same I am hugely disheartened by the response of both my football club and The SANFL to your arrogant midseason draft foisted upon our competition. I am also concerned that you may have acted illegally in coercing young athletes to leave our football club, thus weakening our endeavours both in a sporting sense and also in the business sense while aiming to use your incredible influence to increase your own endeavours in both area's. Most certainly at the very least, your organization has acted completely irresponsibly with a total disregard for our players welfare with their likely on field success and retainability for next year to be fairly low in comparison to those drafted at the start of a season. Your disregard towards the West Adelaide Football has been palpable. It is my hope that our club with the backing of the SANFL and the rest of the competition's clubs shall in the future refuse any future requested ordiance from afl club scouts or coaches, gaurd any collected data on an individual's athletic or medical performances as intellectual property of the club not to be shared with any afl club or affiliate, refuse to recruit any player coming directly out the afl system, refuse to sign any new potential recruit to our club unless they agree that our club has discretion in their contract to allow nomination for any future afl draft. I would also strongly encourage the SANFL to save costs for clubs by reducing the U/18 season by half the number of matches being played now and starting that season earlier so the players may be available for school and also local club selection. Most importantly, the SANFL must publicly DENOUNCE their belief of the afl to be "THE KEEPERS OF THE GAME" and announce their intention play a greater roll of such here

The mid season draft is immoral and unnecessary. The drafted players almost certainly won't play AFL football this year. It shows a total lack of regard for the players, volunteers and supporters of the SANFL clubs all of whom are committed to helping their club succeed. South Adelaide's last premiership in the SANFL was in 1964. They have just lost the state's best ruckman, a replacement for last year's best ruckman. Imagine if this ridiculous draft cost South a premiership. How unjust would that be, or any of the other clubs for that matter. How can s SANFL club plan for such an event. To make matters worse there is no compensation. We already have 2 AFL reserves teams in the local comp, neither with a salary cap. You are making it almost impossible for the majority of the local teams to be competitive. Please get rid of this unnecessary mid year draft.
