So unfair. My SANFL side was also decimated. Footy has managed to survive without a mid season draft. AFL squads are big enough to allow for injuries and have done so for the last 100 plus years without pillaging from the State leagues.

I will always say congratulations to players and will be happy for them if they get drafted living there dreams, I have no problem with that but in November. But when it comes to mid season draft its a no from me. I love my SANFL football and Norwood football club, been supporter since I was 8 years old. Norwood football club is my second home it's a family to me means the world to me. It's my club, and I am watching the AFL just ripping my heart out with decisions like this. Your not only just ripping grass roots footy but the volunteers who put in amounts of hours helping there club's for nothing and love what they do. This can't go on please AFL.

Unbelievably cruel to the teams the boys were drafted from. They've team-mates, barrackers, supporters, volunteers members and sponsors too. To those who say be happy for the player.. I am, in November, not in May mid-season when we've just lost the league's leading goal kicker to Nth Melbourne's reserves. He kicked three.. big bloody deal for North's VFL side.. he could've honoured his contract and been part of a finals side for a club that hasn't been in finals for 10 years. Affects us with his loss, affects the ladder overall the way South & West have been affected. It's disrespectful to State Leagues, it was totally unnecessary.

Should not have a midseason draft at all. It's not fair on the SANFL clubs.

As a South Adelaide supporter ive jst watched my clubs whole season be derailed , our no 1 ruckman taken , then his replacement, and now in the middle of the season our replacement ruckman for the replacement... just watched them play yesterday after looking the goods all year they are now unlikely to win another game this year , they simply dont have a Ruck and the whole gameplan has gone … its deplorable nethical behaviour from the AFL..

AFL is such an arrogant (Victorian) organisation. If any person believes that they have the benefit of the game at heart, they are delusional!
I see one good thing coming from this arrogance is that people may start returning to local leagues, both State and lower leagues. Hopefully?

The mid season is a complete disgrace & vindicates why people hate the arrogant AFL. Not only do you introduce this farce but you don’t even have the common decency to provide any compensation. How pathetic & selfish are you? You sit there with your million dollar salaries so far removed from the real world. Come out from your behind sheltered corporate window. Grass roots footy is run on a shoe string budget by volunteers which in case you don’t understand means they do it for nothing. They do it because they love their club, they love footy. Stop trying to Americanise our game.

All of the Stae Leagues and Affiliated Leagues are entitled to respect and and can rightfully expect to run fair competitions at the best standards available to them. A mid season draft absolutely ignores that right and must not take place in future years !!!

Mid season draft should not happen without negotiation. AFL clubs should draft from their own list. If they can't do that there should be a guarantee that drafted players WILL play for the AFL club or be returned to the local, grass roots club at the end of the season. Compensation MUST be given to cover costs on behalf of SANFL and other local leagues.

If AFL teams can't manage 44 players frim November to November then make the lists 50, or they have to puck from their reserves only.

As a West Adelaide Life Member i find this action deplorable and the impact on grass root clubs massive.
Fact is this petition will have absolutely no impact on the high and mighty AFL
The pressure is on the SANFL to provide strong compensation action to support those SANFL clubs impacted

SANFL players contracts could reflect playing conditions that they are committed to their SANFL clubs for the duration of the entire season by NOT nominating for the AFL draft during the midseason.

What a joke this is! mid Season draft should only be amongst afl clubs wishing to trade players. Not poaching players from local clubs, just because afl clubs can’t get their list management right .it should intrude on local comps.
