Why they couldn't do a mid season trade period amongst their own afl clubs and listed players first is beyond me..to then do what they have done with no compensation to the state league clubs for breaking the contract the player has mid season with their club to me is deplorable..would love to see a class action / injuction sort on the AFL via the courts to stop this but it's the old David n Goliath thing again isn't it. Way its going I will turn off all footy within the next 2-3 years, not watch or attend it.

The AFL's Mid Season Draft is a disgusting tactic aimed at it's continual aim of decimating all Leagues to benefit itself !
How are the SANFL/WAFL/TFL and other leagues supposed to field their best teams with the aim of winning a Premiership only to have their clubs best players poached mid season. Football is a TEAM game with the aim of winning a PREMIERSHIP !
This should NOT be allowed to happen. The AFL should not be allowed to be BIG BROTHER and not be accountable !
We do not all follow AFL clubs. We should not be forced to feel like remnants of the past, just because Victoria self imposed itself as the Australian Rules Football figurehead. You get to "rape and pillage" the leagues at the end of the season, now it's twice a year.
I know a vast majority left their original clubs in droves for the bright lights of the AFL, but give us who chose to stick with their original clubs (as passionate as any AFL supporter, possibly more) a fair playing field. It's just not fair play !

I do not at all believe that the AFL should be doing something like this, ESPECIALLY during the season, November, when the season is over, is the perfectly ideal time for players to get drafted, but NEVER halfway through the season.
Please AFL think about the other state leagues such as the SANFL, WAFL, TSL, NEAFL etc.

The game of AFL is hard enough to watch as it is. Showing contempt to the the State Leagues as the Clubs genuinely strive to win Premierships in competitions that are still relevant and matter to many supporters is just another reason to stop watching AFL.
It's bad enough they've ruined the fabric of the game. Can't they leave some integrity on the State Leagues?
