No Metal Panels on Gates Circle

Please be careful about what gets built. No metal plates, please

Please do not use these unattractive panels.

British architect, David Chipperfield is riled by the ruthless commercialism that has taken over the construction process in recent years, leading to so many banal, cheapskate buildings in Britain. But he could have been referring to Buffalo when he said "… you don't get good, lasting architecture on the cheap. No metal panels. Period. I can't possibly fathom how integrating metal panels would aesthetically improve that structure. Form is more important than function here.

I agree with the petition

You need to listen to those of us who have chosen to buy homes in this part of the city. It is our commitment to living in the city and renovating these old homes that keep this neighborhood beautiful. It is bad enough we have the ugly blue brick apartment buildings not far from this site. Take this opportunity to make a statement with an attractive building and not another hideous eyesore.

I suppose the panels represents an effort to look "modern"- but it succeeds only in making the structure looking strange and out of keeping with an elegant neighborhood.

Please keep an open mind, coming around that beautiful old circle, to the left an old tree lined parkway, no need to detract from the serenity that this gateway to the city presents.

I have lived on Linwood in apartments and then my home. I bought here in 1976 for the historic look of our beautiful neighborhood. Please make every effort to keep that feel when designing the buildings. You do not want UGLY on peoples lips. Heed what we want. NO METAL PANELS. Thank you.

As a former employee at Millard Gates and a resident of almost 40 years, PLEASE don't allow metal panels on this new development. It doesn't fit the neighborhood character.

There is just one chance to make it look like it belongs.

Gates Circle as well as the whole of Delaware Avenue as it's adjacent streets and neighborhoods should be preserved because of it's historic significance to the city of Buffalo and the inherent integrity of the downtown area.

Please do not jeopardize the beauty of our most beautiful street. This is the gateway to the Olmstead park systems. A rare gem in this country.

Building should be in tune w/ the historic character that Delaware Ave is known for.

Metal panels does a disservice to the architectural integrity of the neighborhood. It looks cheap. It would have been better to leave the old building. No metal panels.
