Gas Tax 2013 This time last year on behalf of the WMDA, which is the Service Station Dealers Association of Washington, Maryland, and Delaware, You were asked to sign a petition to help prevent Maryland’s Legislature from passing one or all of the various House and/or Senate Bills that would have raised the STATE Motor Fuel GAS TAX. One of the bills asked for a fixed amount, one asked for a 6% sales tax in addition to the 23.5 cents/gal already affixed, and yet another that would have imposed a yearly index increase. You helped by signing the petitions and by spreading the word and when the smoke cleared YOU WON, NO NEW GAS TAX. Well here we go again. Haven’t heard much about it this year, thought it was all over? Well THINK again!! This year the talks are whispers; some assume the Legislators, suffering from last year’s defeat, will not try in 2013. That would be nice, but, YOU weren’t born yesterday and neither were they. Be prepared for a set of BILLS at the SUNSET of the Session. IT is imperative that you look to ACT NOW, and this is how you go about it: FIRST, please sign this online petition or stop by the station to sign one. SECOND, call or write one or all of your elected officials, if you don’t know how to contact them go to www.wmda.net and follow the link.
