According to the CDC and Pima County mandates, those who have trouble breathing are exempt from wearing masks. Many students during physical activity (recess/PE) are experiencing trouble breathing, overheating, asthma flareups and other health issues. Also, students are more likely to touch their mask and face because of lack of oxygen, sweat and discomfort, being counterproductive in lowering the spread of germs.
We, the undersigned, are concerned parents/family/friends who urge Coronado K-8 School to act now and implement an “optional “ mask policy during outdoor time where exercise is taking place ( i.e. recess, PE) for students who have trouble breathing.

The response to this campaign proves how many families are concerned about our children breathing safely during physical activity. We have enough momentum to force a conversation at the next school board meeting. Email your representative today to demand that they review our proposal for optional masks at recess.

I coach youth sports and athletes playing do not have to wear face coverings. Why do kids running outdoors playing on recess have too ?
I live in Coronado's neighborhood. Requiring kids who have medical issues to wear masks is a higher standard than Pima county has mandated. But that's not a good thing, it's detrimental to the children who can't breathe. Please allow children to breathe freely at recess!
Give them a break outdoors.

Ridiculous! Enough with the masks already.
I agree that kids shouldn’t have to wear a mask outdoors. I totally agree with being inside where they can’t social distance. But it gets to hot to have to wear it when they are outside running around.

The children should be able to go mask free at lunch and recess even when my children are playing sports they are not required to wear masks. It is dangerous for them to be wearing masks while playing they cannot breath and at that point it could lead to other problems for the children
