As an officer, sister of a fallen officer and it being the anniversary of my brother's murder, it is disgusting to know that people want a criminal honored with a special day. His family can honor him at home away from the public eye any way they wish. I am sure he was a good person around his family, they all are but the choices he made are his bad choices not the communities. If his family cared that much about him they should have intervened. City officials should be ashamed. It sounds like it is a public relations stunt. Family members of fallen officers don't ask for special days or events but are humbled and honored when they occur. I can guarantee families of criminals will be shouting "look at me and what I got from the city" and will use that to see what else they can get. It's a slap in the face to officers across this nation if this day occurs. This is why our hands are tied at times and good citizens suffer.

The Board of Stupidvisors has once again disrespected the officers of the SFPD. Wow I guess common sense has gone out the door when you become a supervisor. S.F. was once a great city to live in and work for. Now its a disgrace to say your from SF because of the liberal thinking. SFPD officers you are appreciated by the most of the citizens of SF.

Let's not reward and make martyrs out of those who have committed crimes against innocent people.

Since when do we glorify criminals?

Known Criminal is being recognized as a hero, when in fact he just committed a felony attack on someone just prior to his death.

Searching for the link to the day of remembrance for the consequences of one's actions...

We are going to remember a criminal that was in the process of "attempted murder" at the time when he tried to harm a police officer with the very knife that he stabbed his AFRO-AMERICAN victim with? We only want to remember him so we don't repeat his inane actions. Perhaps his parents should be in the remembrance of this day, too. They were the ones that brought him up with no regard to rules. We call that Sociopath, don't we ?

This is so wrong

If he had complied with the officer's demands to drop his knife after he had already stabbed someone in the first place, he'd still be alive today. To honor him is a disgrace to all officers in law enforcement, but especially to those on the scene that did their jobs.

This is insanity. You are emboldening criminals.

I absolutely do not agree with the passing of this SF Resolution by the SF Board of Supervisors.

What a low blow to all fallen officers and their families who have not been recognized, let alone honored. I'll bet there's but a handful of citizens out there who can even tell you their names.

Whoever thought of this "day of remembrance " for a total documented peckerwood needs to be gone from any form of public service. What a freaking cowardly idiot.

This Day of Remembrance is a travesty to all members of the law enforcement community

As a medically retired police officer because of a fight with a suspect which ultimately broke 3 vertebrae in my lower back, I find this day to be a slap in the face of all law enforcement. San Francisco BOS, you should be ashamed of yourselves.

The hard working men and women of the United States Park Police FOP stand in supporting the equally dedicated officers of the San Francisco Police Department and condemn the actions of the SF Board of Supervisors in honoring Mario Woods.
