Five Nobel Prizes winner associated with UCSF, 38 Medal of Honor recipients born in San Francisco, 102 police officers and 153 fire fighters who gave their lives in the line of duty to make San Francisco safer and average persons performing heroic acts (Muni driver Evelyn McWay saves life) are not recognized with a special day. FUXXXXXX idiot supervisors decided a felon who stabbed someone, committed arm robberies, dealt drugs, gang member, high school dropout and served time in prison deserved a day of recognition. There is something rotten in the city of San Francisco

Honoring a criminal should be a criminal act!

The rhetoric in this society has reached a new low. When we honor a convict and gang member whose own criminal actions dictated his own demise by the very people we ask to keep us safe, while that same honor has never been given to those public servants who died in the line of duty. Beyond deplorable

The action by the city council to make a day of remeberance for Mario Woods (a criminal who committed a criminal act). is disgusting and insulting to the city, county, Police, Fire, and any other public service provider.

I agree with the remark and question, "W#hat was honorable about the life that Mario Woods lived?" He was a criminal, convicted of a very serious crime, for which he did time. A pity yes, but I do not believe his death warrants such a petition.

I will no longer visit or pass through San Francisco. I will travel around the bay if I need to. I will not recommend or spend a dime in San Francisco until this is repealed.

It is unbelievable that anyone would honor a criminal and gang member who stabbed another young black man, let alone our supervisors!

Are you going to have a day of Remembrance for My S.F.P.D. Husband? Oh that's right, he's a White Male who immigrated from Scotland and served the Force for over 30 years. Guess not he was in the wrong profession, in the wrong city and was born in the wrong era.

As a plain old citizen, I have the right to shoot someone if I am in fear of my life, and the perpetrator has the means to cause serious bodily harm or death.
The police have that same right, like it or not. A local DJ was just stabbed a week ago, and just died today. You might have read about it, BOS; knives do actually kill people.
This silly day of remembrance may be looked back at as the turning point that caused a complete replacement of all of the BOS at the next election.

What a disgrace and abuse of political power! What a dishonor to those who have served the public honorable and selflessly and have sacrificed for their community.

Having a memorial to this person is a discrace to all the people of the state of California. And to the people who have died at the hands of violent criminals.
