Good to know we honor criminals, but not our veterans.

Stop kow-towing to thugs, criminals and special interest groups. Abide by the law; and, hold everyone accountable for their actions. Stop blaming society for one's bad choices.

One day, Mario stabbed someone with a knife. He was noncompliant and refused to drop his knife when confronted by police officers. He was unaffected by multiple less lethal weapons, and moved toward officers with his knife while they yelled at him to drop it. The officers fatally shot him in order to protect themselves from an attempted murderer with a deadly weapon. Later, politicians made a holiday in Mario's honor. True story.

I am appalled you city deligates would attempt to honor a violent criminal's actions, instead of honoring those who put their lives on the line day in and day out!!!

Absolutely disgraceful, honoring a thug, a convicted felon and validated gang member just to appease a vocal minority. Spineless cowards!

This is simply a travesty. Police lives matter and we depend on them. Stop pandering to the pc crowd.

The proposed day would be an insult to every law-abiding person, particularly the one that was assaulted by this person.

Why we would ever, as a society, wish to promote the violence and anger of this instigator and police combatant?

There is never a reason to honor an armed criminal who confronted the police.

Honoring criminals ,aka police officers and dead presidents who were slave owners, is already here and been here for centuries! It's just that time that enough is enough!

Why would you want to honor someone that slashed an innocent person for no reason that's insane. If you want to honor someone honor someone that does good for the community.

If honoring criminal continues, the day will come when neither a man nor woman will take on the dangerous position of protecting the innocent. When that day comes, I hope the persons who had their heads up their behinds are the first to become victims of the sure to come violent crime spree. I feel that it is high time to end the stupidity!
