a "Remembrance Day" for a criminal where there are none in place for individual fallen law enforcement officials is misplaced.

I cannot believes these mirins want to honor and celebrate a criminal and criminalize and dehumanize the officers. Maybe when they have an emergency they should feel with it in their own!!!

What is this country coming to??? It is completely offensive that the city of San Francisco is so BACKWARD to even CONSIDER honoring a violent criminal! Let alone honoring him - who had literally JUST stabbed an innocent person - over any/all of the fallen officers who have been MURDERED protecting the very people who are in favor this ridiculous idea. It's a slap in the face to the victim, law abiding citizens, law enforcement, and common sense! There should never be a day to honor Mario Woods - or any other criminal. And words cannot convey the pure disgust I am feeling that they decided on July 22nd - the anniversary of Sgt Scott Lunger's murder. Shame doesn't even begin to cover what they should feel!

Board of supervisors want to honor a convicted criminal and ignore countless other deserving law-abiding citizens. Shameful.

No, no, no!!!! And of all the dates, you choose the anniversary of Sgt Scott Lungers murder?? San Francisco has once again stood up for the criminals and not it's citizens.

What is being done to thank the officers for doing their job?

Mario Woods stabbed an innocent man, unknown to him and also African-American, immediately prior to the attempted arrest by SFPD.

No reason to.

The SF Board of Supervisors is in a strong position to correct a moral wrong regarding the ill considered "Mario Woods Day of Remembrance." This horrid decision is an affort to peaceable and vulnerable people everywhere. SFPD was forced by Woods' behavior to make a choice between letting him continue to injure the defenseless or preventing him from doing so. Thank God they choose the latter. I know far too many people who would be unable to protect themselves from the actions of a man like Mario Woods.

The stabbing victim does not want his name released because he fears for his safety, but his assailant is receiving a day of remembrance? This is crazy. Black lives matter. Let's remember that 2 of the officers were black. They tried using pepper spray and bean bag rounds. Instead of stopping him he moved toward the police with the knife where a crowd, and a bus of middle school children, were behind them. Somebody said they should have used a net to capture him?! Come on. This guy has already stabbed somebody and is now approaching you with a knife. And there are innocent people behind you. In this situation they did the right thing and protected themselves and the innocent bystanders. Sometimes deadly force is necessary. If this guy was approaching Beyoncé or Jayzee with a knife, they wouldn't have even bothered with pepper spray or bean bag rounds. Their bodyguards would have filled this guy with lead. Why not have a day for the police or the stabbing victim who has to remain anonymous. Not for the thug that stabbed him.

SF has it all wrong. A Day of Remembrance for a violent criminal who only had to drop his knife to save his own life? This sends the wrong message, that is unless you message is chaos, anarchy, and the decay of order and personal responsibility. How about commendations for the brave officers who faced that violent felon, and gave him every opportunity to save his own life.

How does a career criminal get a day of remembrance but innocent Kate Steinle does not get a day?

Must be an election coming up and the pandering is enough to gag me. Time to respect our hero Police and not the elected idiots.

This is disgusting. We have become a country that praises misconduct.
