San Francisco and the backward thinking is actually unbelievable. I can't believe this thing even passed what kind of city council would approve this? Oh, that's right the one that is anti-police and would rather embrace the criminals families screaming that his rights were violated than tell them the truth and say. " tell your son not to break the law and listen and respect the police then none of this would have happend. Presto... problem solved. But instead appease the masses and give a criminal a remembrance day???!!! WTF????

It's an absolute digrace to think it's ok to honor a criminal with a day of remembrance. Normally a day of remembrance is created to honor a hero. This criminal is not a hero, and does not deserve to be put on the same level as our REAL fallen heros.

Hard working people that contribute to the good of society should be remembered & honored each and every day, not those who harm others!!!

Criminals should not be honored. What about all the fallen officers? None of them have their own day. Please do not glorify crime and the acts of criminals. Breaking the law had consequences!

It's sad that he died but why does he deserve a day honoring him? Did he do something amazing that contributed to the good of society? Did he put his life on the line to save someone else?

Mario Woods made his bed by breaking the law and victimizing innocent people. Nobody forced him to rob people which he went to prison for, and nobody forced him to stab someone for no reason. Police responded because the victim he stabbed asked for help. By law the police are allowed to use deadly force if deemed necessary for self defense or defense of another. SFPD also has even more restricting guidelines, which adds deadly force is allowed if fleeing felon will hurt others if not apprehended. Hmm he stabbed one person already and was walking around with a knife. Just a matter of time he stabbed someone else for no reason. Many without knowledge claim Woods was no threat and didn't lunge at any officers. One police have duty to stop him and they do not have to retreat per California law. Second people need to go to YouTube and search 21 foot rule, which officers are trained in. A normal person needs at least 21 feet of reaction space to draw a firearm from holster and fire. Woods was less than 10 feet away from what I could see in video when he walked towards one of the officers. A normal person can close that distance in less than a second. Case law and penal code support the deadly force that was used. Sad someone had to lose their life but he made his bed. Too bad stupidvisors in this city are trying to gain notoriety by politicizing this tragedy. Not one of them showed concern for the officers. Nobody is ever the same again when they take a life. The psychological toll from that and now the witch hunt and fear of being sued or inprisoned for doing what they were trained to do is not easy to bear. No to thug day!

There a lot of other deserving people out there who really deserve a day of remembrance! If you allow this it is only going to make matters worse in the world!

Why would any city want to honour a violent criminal?
