Apparently the Board of Supervisors believes the false narrative that Mario Woods is a heroic martyr to a racist and murderous police department, when the facts are that Mario Woods has been a violent criminal in the past, was very likely a violent criminal on the day of his death, and was the primary cause of his own demise due to his refusal to drop his deadly weapon despite repeated commands from police and the several non-lethal tactics they used to try to subdue him.
This is not a person we should be honoring, a person who if not shot by the police would very likely be currently residing in prison for attempted murder. Yet the BOS chose to honor him when many SF citizens who actually deserve it have not been so honored, not the least of which are the officers who have given their lives in defense of this city, or the victims of violent psychopaths like Mario Woods himself. Kate Steinle comes to mind.
What is especially appalling is that they voted for this resolution despite the fact that no formal investigation has yet concluded that the SFPD did anything wrong in this case.

There should not be one cop on duty on January 22 in SF.

I do not support having a day of rememberance for Mario Woods. I have family who put their life on the lines everyday in the line of duty to help others. For someone who allegedly stabbed someone while being on whatever type of drugs and putting himself + others in harm, that is something I can not stand with

There is no "Victims of Violent Crime Remembrance Day" in San Francisco so I don't see the need for a "Glorify the Felon that Taxpayers Had to Spend a lot of Money Incarcerating for His Crimes and Getting a Gang Injunction Against!" Victims lives matter more.
