How did this get past the "idea" stage? Unconscionable!!

Some kids develop terrible habits because they have LEARNED how to survive their threatening and toxic world. Placing them in a prison WILL make their lives and behaviors worse. Please use compassion, not punishment!!!

This is a fundamentally wrong move for these children. Rehabilitation, not more violence is what they need. Stop this atrocity now!

This is so disturbing!. NO child should be locked up in a cage @ ANY adult facility!! These poor children need our love protection. Please don't allow this!!!

This is an unacceptable escalation of the problem.. NO human let alone child should be subjected to this horrific treatment. Solve the problem. Thank you for standing up to this horrible “solution”..

This is outrageous. No child should be housed in a death row cell. Imagine your child there and how terrifying it would be for them. You are driving them to recidivism rather than rehabilitation.

When I heard about this on the radio while driving, I pulled over and signed this petition. Immediately.

My heart goes out to the children incarcerated in such inhumane conditions and their families. The state must provide rehabilitation, treatment, and care to these youth.

We must invest in our youth, not continue to punish them, if we are to have any future.

I could not agree less with this decision to move children (of any age) to Angola. It is wrong on many levels and is sending us in a very dangerous direction. This decision is negligent, abusive and in no way helping these children have a chance at reform or helpful to the community. Not only all that but this is also a very poor reflection on the person responsible in the way of judgment and ability to problem solve ethically and effectively. I am deeply concerned by this decision and urge you to reconsider.

I feel like if these young people were white, they would not be sent to Angola and other options would be explored. It is not acceptable to use former death row quarters on a former slave plantation to house these young people while a better facility for them is purportedly being found. Find an appropriate place that will provide care and rehabilitation. You are creating more problems and continuing the pipeline to prison. Shame on you.

Children should never be housed with adults, especially those as young as 12 years old. They should also never be housed in an area in a prison that used to be used for Death Row inmates!

The thought of this is absolutely unconscionable.

Our kids are the future, all of them. Let’s do what it takes to give them the best foundation we can. I have to think incarceration at Angola is not the best we can do.

As a mother, I can not imagine my child going to bed every night in this dangerous prison. I can not imagine my child living in a death row cell. The trauma this will cause is unacceptable and will only lead to far more damage to these kids and their families.

Children must not be housed with adults in any detention, or prison facility. Help the young people to become better members of society, not better criminals. Invest in young people, not divest from young people.
