No Hospital Sale

This is not the time to panic. I believe the process has been rushed. With two commissioners choosing not to run for re-election, thus avoiding accountability for this decision, something smells. I believe it should be put to the voters as a referendum, with plenty of OPEN information about the proposals and what it would mean to the county and the surrounding area.

This is wrong on so many levels. Please do not do this.

A vote of the people created our hospital. There should be public approval of its sale. Without public approval, the contract to transfer ownership should give the county and our citizens recourse should the move fail and cuts in staff or services result.

Don't try to fix something that's not broken

Who will benefit from the sale? It is certainly not the citizens! Don’t forget what happened with Cafe Fear Hospital a few years back! I’m definitely opposed to the sale!

This has been a veiled process from the beginning with notices of public hearings being posted with short notices and being held at places with very limited parking. Not a transparent process by any means .

We own it. We keep it. Amazing that one person can determine this outcome.

Please do not sell the hospital. It is something to be proud of not abandon. Money is not the only thing of value to the community. "If it's not broke don't try to fix it "

One reason I moved back in this area was how good the hospital had always been for me - simple, effective.

Thank you John and Gene Merritt for putting forth the effort to halt the sale of the hospital. According to Lawton Robert Burns (Univ. of Pa.)"the wall separating a win and a loss is narrow for the sale of a hospital. There's often a thin line between the two".

I am against the sale of the hospital. There is uncertainty in healthcare right now but things are beginning to improve. Consolidation always means a reduction in option and generally lower quality service. Stop focusing on how the money from the sale might be spent and focus on what it would mean to lose our wonderful medical center.

Why the rush? The hospital is in the black. There is no need to vote on the proposal Sept.3. Put it to a referendum.

Selling the hospital is unhealthy for the wellbeing of the community and runs contrary to its mission. Listen to your constituents!

Do not sell the hospital. If you do, you are going against the will of the people, and it's the people who will pay the price; monetarily, and in terms of a lesser quality of health care services.
