Tell the City of Portland and Multnomah County: No homeless camp/village near our schools and preschools!

This is not an appropriate location.

The goals and interests of Joint Office of Homeless Services and City of Portland OMF-HUCIRP are diametrically opposed from community livability interests. JOHS even distributes tents to street vagrants. They essentially exist to improve "quality of life" for street vagrants and to ensure prosperity of vagrant services industry.

I am, however, a huge supporter of the Bybee Lakes Hope Center. Formerly the Wapito Jail.

I live 4 blocks away from the proposed village site. I am not opposed to the village concept (I think Kenton has been successful) but this is NOT the right location for it. The church is doing this for profit, they have accidentally admitted that (their spokesperson needs some training). The majority of neighbors that I have spoken with feel the same about the location. Several long term St. Johns residents that lived within a few blocks of this have already sold their houses in anticipation of how much worse our neighborhood will get regarding crime.

We had some bad signatures from someone using names like Ben Dover. They were removed by the moderator.

How did the signatures DECREASE since earlier this week? On March 10th, I saw over 400 signatures, and now it us under 400. What the f#ck?

We already contend with the rampant crime the homeless have brought. And our police are allowed to do nothing. Bringing this closer to schools and small children is no different than endorsing the worst case scenario. Dont.

This is not a good spot for so many reasons. All you have heard.

Please consider other plans for the homeless.

A homeless village is not appropriate within an established residential neighborhood. Kentonʻs Womanʻs Village is in an industrial park. There are many opportunities to construct a similar village on the south side of Cathedral Park which is mostly industrial and vacant.

very poor choice of location. not in the heart of a neighbor hood next to a school and library.

They should by no means allow this, their will be more business burglary, peoples belongings getting stolen off their property, endangerment for our children with drugs & needless on school property, kidnapping and garbage laying all over the neighborhoods. I say NO....

No homeless camp near our schools

I have little kids, I am afraid to take walks because for our safety and afraid kids, will get poked by a needle. I don’t feel safe at the parks now because they’re getting drunk or getting high. No need to be handing things to people to unable them if they are not even trying. Business are closing because no one wants to feel unsafe, that’s if your a women or have kids.

The proposed location is wrong. One block from community park; next to elementary school; drug dealing at every corner. An affluent neighborhood is a better option for this project to be successful.

JOHS should work collaboratively with neighborhood to identify a better location for the project.
