I am a musician, composer, and music educator. The premise of this course is a disgrace to the Arts. The entire point of making music is to live through the process of getting better!

This is absolutely outrageous. For a school with the title of being one of the best music institutions, having a class dedicated to an ai doing the work for you is absolutely insane. Not everything should be about ai. Who are we as artists if ai is doing the art? That being said, shame on Berkelee and shame on their professor, Ben Camp, who should be fired as he’s insisting upon the use of ai in one of the most prestigious music schools in the world.

Ai and music DO NOT go together. No form of art or HUMAN expression should come from anything other than a HUMAN

AI needs to be taken out of the creative process and the human soul needs to be put back in

AI should not be in schools that center their work around the arts. AI is the antithesis of art; it is soulless and lacks any ability to even begin to replicate the emotion, personal experience, love, and dedication people put into their art and music. If AI becomes the standard for music, or has any part in the music making process, what would even be the point of having music anymore? It wouldn’t be human. It’s disgusting that this was allowed to even be a class.

Ai music is not creative, and it is not art. Pick up a guitar for once in your life

I play multiple instruments, music is truly my life. Going to Berklee is my dream, as I wish to have a career in music. But seeing that Berklee is now doing this, and saying it is okay is so disheartening. I am truly so disappointed that we have come to this.

The reason music is fun is because it’s hard and challenging, removing friction is exactly how people stay idiots. Musicians are respected because music is hard, if you seriously want to make music then you’ll go through to effort to learn 3 chords on guitar. In any other case just stick to listening to music if you’re too lazy to put in effort to create art.

I’ve loved music since I was a toddler and I believe that the creative process and people behind the very music that’s shaped who I am today deserves far more recognition than the AIs that want to strip the joy and life away from it.

The CEO of Suno is claiming that people don't enjoy the "process" of making music. That’s EXACTLY the opposite of what song writing is!!! It's ALL about the process, and it's ridiculous to kill creativity with an LLM that regurgitates existing data and plasters a copyright on it.

I don’t want a future of art made my machines pretending to be humans.

I can't stand seeing a class at the highest prestige of music schools have anything related to AI generated things. Music is created through passion, the struggles and the feelings that we as humans have. Not what some model can generate.

Band director here — this is absolutely ridiculous. Not only does Berkeley deserve better, but also the students, families, and faculty deserve better as well.
