It's sad to see more and more institutions introducing practices no one wants just because of investors. Generative AI speeds up the process sure, but what do you really gain from it? Students should be taught how to surpass AI in their craft, and professors should encourage the development of a student's own expression, not handing them a bot to do it all for them. These people are blinded by greed and profit.

Curriculum for higher education in music should be determined through the rigorous and collaborative expertise of masters within the industry with the intention of adequately passing the torch onto the next generation, not by venture capitalists who see music as a product to extract wealth from for personal gain.

While own AI's might be trained on submitted data by students, LMMs based on big firms that skirt around copyright, fair use, and spit in the face of musicians trying to develop their unique craft, has no place at any esteemed music college

They should teach how to co-exist with and be prepared to face challenges related to generative AI. Oh wait, that doesn't profit the Berklee staff who have money in AI congolmerates.
All this class teaches students is that Berklee are doing their best to make the education they provide worthless, and that students' money will fund the corporations doing their best to ruin musicians.

As a Berklee student getting their Masters in Songwriting, I stand by all the other students and members of faculty who are standing against the use of AI in our courses. All AI use is unethical and should never be acceptable in our courses

I am a Berklee alumna and I demand that this college or University, remains a school and that it relies on Real Teachers/Professors for all the Teachings

As an alumni I find it deeply disturbing that Berklee would consider using AI tech that steals from real musicians output.

Suno has been proven to steal copyrighted material from human artists. It has no place in a serious music college.
