For a place as prestigious and expensive as Berklee, students should be taught how to elevate their craft *above* what LLM's can do. AI music is their competition, not their ally.

As a graduate and a professional, using these tools is a backwards step and unethical. Please stop these classes!

Berkllee, WTF? You support copyright theft now? I fear the old saying that 'Berklee's reputation is inversely proportional to one's distance from it' is no longer true, instead I now must be ashamed I attended no matter how far from Boston I find myself.

If AI is pushed as the new method of doing anything, how will we think for ourselves to actually do anything?

Generative models like ChatGPT and Suno are designed to devalue critical thinking and skilled work. Students at Berklee and across the globe are crying out for people to let them learn and grow, rather than forcing a world that ignores effort, friction, and growth. All of these models are trained on shameless theft of copyrighted materials and any school with an anti-plagiarism policy would be hypocritical to endorse these technologies.

As a musician who still dreams of going to music school, it is disturbing and exhausting seeing schools like Berklee fall for the propaganda of tech bros within the AI bubble. Students are vehemently opposed to this plagiarism technology that wastes resources and further erodes the planet. It is not skillful, not wanted, not meaningful. People create in order to express, learn to build skills, and develop art through intention - all things they hope to be taught about and develop in school. Generative AI by its very nature devalues and fails those processes. You are failing your students if you don't drop this, and you'll continue to see students aggressively push back.

No AI should be used in any parts of the arts. A place like Berklee shouldn't have any need to use AI or teach that using AI is okay to use in the industry.

It's sad to see more and more institutions introducing practices no one wants just because of investors. Generative AI speeds up the process sure, but what do you really gain from it? Students should be taught how to surpass AI in their craft, and professors should encourage the development of a student's own expression, not handing them a bot to do it all for them. These people are blinded by greed and profit.
