I have heavily considered applying to Berklee’s online programs, as they’re an accessible option to continuing my studies as a performer, but if they continue to double down on the usage of AI, then they will never hold my respect ever again. I do not stand by the usage of GenAI in the arts, ESPECIALLY in music. For one of the most reputable music schools in the world, you would think that they would take into account what is actively killing this industry from the inside out, taking the work from talented human artists. Art is inherently human; a machine cannot replicate that.

This is horrific and frankly embarrassing. If AI isn't banned, a degree from Berklee will forever be valued at approximately 80% the value of toilet paper.

There are so many things wrong with Generative AI. I would have expected a college like Berklee to at least stand with their students and alumni against the technology that is pushed to replace them.
