No Generative AI At Berklee- Disband Bots, Beats and Bytes

asking an llm machine to just spit out whatever you ask for isn't learning to make music. berklee do better.

It’s shameful and disgusting that Berklee ever even seriously considered this course, much less actually offered it. Generative AI is fundamentally insulting to human dignity. It doesn’t belong anywhere, and belongs least of all at a school of art.

Having students train AI models under the guise of "learning" for the sake of short-term profit from tech companies is deplorable. Do better.

The only reason AI is getting pushed down our throats at Berklee is our president and ben camp being way too connected to the tech industry that would directly profit from a whole school using Ai. Its gross and destroys the values that I came to berklee for

Teaching AI music tools at a school that is supposed to be dedicated to improving your own skills as a musician is downright dystopian. A music school should be on the frontlines on protesting against an untested technology that has redefined plagiarism in music, not working to normalize it.

The concept that generative AI does not undermine and insult the uniqueness of an individual's time, effort, or innate creativity is a vile cognitive dissonance which harms all who are involved.

Suno AI is a scam that steals from real human creators and seeks to replace them. Its obv that Berklee only cares about money.

The "teacher" using the class as an opportunity to flog his AI startup is a damnable conflict of interest

After centuries of amazing art being made by humans and many being fortunate to make a career out of it, some institutions want to ruin this (as well as their reputations) by shoehorning in rushed, unethically trained technology into their programs. This is a crying shame and generative AI will never be art. Anyone using it are not artists. A tool may be a tool but unless the product was a whole is one's own work, done for its own sake, it will never be art.

This cannot stand.

Remove AI from music. It is shockingly believable and human sounding, but it chews into human efforts.
