I am a pianist, singer, and songwriter. I do not believe a prestigious music school should be encouraging its students to generate music with AI. This type of “music generation” is dubiously legal at best.

Making music is fun, people like to make music so much that they will go to school and pay a bunch of money to make it. Suno AI is created on the opinion that it isn’t, that it’s hard and not worth it when you can just skip to the result. But the hard part, the creation, that’s what’s fun. I never want to see that taken away from musicians. AI has no place here.

Disgusted that Berklee would sink this low

How can this be considered education at all? People should be taught to be sentient.

A music school teaching how to create AI music is like a cooking school teaching how to use Uber Eats

i am a boston conservatory at Berklee student. the fact that Berklee is encouraging the use of music AI in this way is abhorrent. as students we are ashamed that our school would waste resources on a class that teaches it. i can't believe this is even a question.

Taking humans out of human creativity is antithetical to everything a music school should be about.

as a Berklee Online Alumni I very much dislike that this class has been introduced.

AI should not be involved in one of the most expensive music education courses in the world. AI generated music is cheap tacky garbage. People who are spending money to go to Berkley are spending it in order to learn how to write and compose music, people who rely on Suno don't know how to compose. If they knew how to compose they wouldn't need to use Suno. to me the sentence "Berkley College of Music teaches it's students to use Suno AI" sounds like it should be an oxymoron. It seems to fly in the face of the very concept of a "college of music".

Berklee should teach students how to navigate around AI in the music world, not how to create more AI slop.
