As a Berklee alumni & former student of Ben Camp, and it is disheartening, disturbing, and beyond disappointing that they would support generative ai in music, and go so far as to "teach" a "class" about it. It's more evident than ever that Berklee as an institution cares more about money than anything else.

AI generated music has no place in the music industry. It is insane to me that one of the top music institutions in the country or maybe even the world would support a class that allows for Ai generated slop to be pushed out. Music is so much more than pushing a generate button. Part of the friction of the song making process is what makes a song truly mean something. Suno is garbage at making music anyway.

Music can only be made by a human. This class is not teaching music, it’s teaching something that, by definition, cannot be music. Therefore, it does not belong in a music school.

What is beautiful about music is that it's human, and we have to honour and preserve that. Art lives thanks to the evolution of hundreds of years of human history and controlling an artificial intelligence to do as you want doesn't make you an artist, it just makes you dependent by a machine to express yourself, and in my opinion there's nothing more sad than this.

I am a Berklee alumn (1981-82). Extremely disappointed in this unethical, counterproductive, pedagogically irresponsible, anti-artist choice. Berklee has been and can be, and do better.

The use of AI in the music industry is horrible and goes against the entire purpose of writing music, and the fact that a Berklee professor is supporting and teaching to his students to use Suno is outrageous.
