AI has no place at Berklee!

Why waste AI on things like this when it’s wasting time, energy, and water from the earth? There’s so much creativity that goes into this field, and it shouldn’t be wasted on AI

LET’S HELP TOGETHER!

I know this is rather lengthy, but I want to just fill in my part in my research and conclude my stance! I think the course needs remodeling, a rerbrand (rename), and a different approach on how to deliver such technologies that have a tendency to infringe copyright. I want to start by saying this, if we are going to talk about AI, we have to apply it as part of a music technology course, but not as a separate course focusing on AI, and this can be pulled off in 1 unit (3 classes), I'd also add a disclaimer stating we are including generative AI for educational purposes to see how AI is applied in practice. We don't need to highlight artists we will exemplify with these applications, but what would be helpful is to stop looking at AI as that #1 tool to solve writer's block, and keep in mind that this is not a profitable method as prompts cost credits, which cost money, also Suno has a subscription model, so depending how much you'd gamble on AI, it's on you in the long run if you get in some legal trouble using such technologies that is used for ripping content and slap it onto your music. Lastly, I am a neutral supporter in the use of AI for quick fixes through sound engineering and regurgitate a sound that is similar to a reference track, but that would mean trouble in the sample library sector of the industry where people will resell presets and sounds that result in generative AI (that's been going on over the past 3 years, it just grew louder at this point). My stance on this is simple, use AI as a reference point, it'll only take you to your vision by a little bit and you'll need to refine it anyways, it's really not a quick fix thing. You can ask it to do the research for you to expedite to a definite answer to something you're troubleshooting or investigating, but as I said before, it'll only take you to 80% of what you're looking for, the 20% is you refining it manually, at least you saved hours finding the answers and gathering data you need to ti

AI is NOT a creative outlet and NEVER WILL BE creative. It is plagiarism at its core. Be ashamed of your damn selves. And you people wonder why your families don't love you or care about you, when you care about nothing in the damn world but money.

Apparently our generation is the only one with a backbone.

This should be obvious. AI should not have anything to do with music.

I'm applying for music colleges now, if this is the standard then I'm not very hopeful about the quality of education I'll be getting.

I don’t even need to explain why this is utterly irresponsible and damaging behaviour. The higher ups at Berklee making these decisions should be truly ashamed of themselves.

No AI in the Arts!!!

Berklee should be a place that protects artists, champions human expression, fosters creative development and teaches ethical innovation—not one that accelerates technologies built on appropriation, exploitation, and the replacement of authentic creativity.

AI is the worse, and pointless. It has made numerous smaller artist have harder time to achieving any engagement due to trust issues or suspicion on using generative AI in this current generation in the community. It hurts the individual! Say NO to AI!

Students should get organised to find out how you can kick these capitalist vultures and AI-Monopolies off the campus. If we don't fight these greedy tech-billionaires will destroy all of our culture!

As a global leader in music education, Berklee must model industry responsibility and refuse to legitimize tools built on copyright infringement.
