No Generative AI At Berklee- Disband Bots, Beats and Bytes

Be careful what you‘re using and be aware of the tools. I‘m not surprised at all that this is happening but I‘m surprised that people like the board of Berklee (or whatever you would call the responsible people behind that) think that this will be unnoticed and students will support.

Teaching students how to generate AI slop at a music college is like teaching students how to order fast food at a culinary university because they think a McDonald's ice cream machine is the future of food

A university has no place encouraging PAYING students to kick back and let AI do the imagining for them. The use of generative AI is inherently theft and you should consider that a university essentially encouraging plagiarism is disgusting. How many thousands of dollars do your students pay to get told how to type prompts?

This sort of thing makes me embarrassed to have a degree from Berklee. Shameful behavior.

Music is about the human touch not using a computer as a means to do none fo the work and dedication it takes to learn it.

Art should be a safe space from corporate greed and oversaturation.

Berklee should be teaching students how to create spaces for musicians to sustain themselves through their art, not how to replace themselves with AI

Berklee needs to take a stand AGAINST AI not for it. AI has no place in music, and we are here to learn how to make human music!

I am an singer-songwriter and beginner guitarist. The fact that we can now bypass developing and mastering certain skills doesn’t mean we should. The struggle of making music is what makes it more valuable in the end and no AI can replicate that.

Class of ‘25 alum here, very disappointed to see this college that I love embracing the biggest threat to art and expression of our time.

I place my hopes for future great performers to be trains in schools like Berklee. These classes break the cycle of talented professionals and means the end of original content at the highest level.

I have a few music degrees and this disgusts me. He should be teaching them to be better than the machine not how to use the machine.

What's the point of paying so much money into learning about music and such, then use ai. What a rip off.
