I'm currently a student at Berklee and this is incredibly disappointing. I hoped to gain real skills from knowledgeable instructors providing a curated curriculum.
If I just wanted to copy/paste generated content stolen from real artists, I could just do this directly without Berklee because I don't need to actually learn anything. If I can't figure out how to use Suno, I could ask Claude/Gemini/any other slop tool to think for me. I don't need to pay Berklee tuition money.
This tarnishes the Berklee name and makes me strongly reconsider continuing my degree.
Do better.

I go to this school and am immensely disappointed by this development. I came here to learn from the masters, and this is a slap in their collective faces, as well as anyone else who seeks to tread in their footsteps.

I'm going to Berklee next year, and this is not what I'm paying for. Of course, the information about all of this came out after I put in my deposit... so the best I can do is state the facts. This is stupid. This is painful. This is harmful. This is the antithesis of Berklee. Shut it all down.

Berklee staff here, absolutely dumbfounded by how quickly this institution is turning into a corporation that does not care about its employees, but even more importantly, its students. Lucchese is going to ruin this place beyond repair. He and his cronies need to go ASAP.

As a Berklee alum I support this initiative 100%. Generative AI is antithetical to creativity, bad for the environment, and relies entirely on blatant theft. It has no place at an institution like Berklee.

The whole point, the whole reason we connect to music is because it reflects our humanity. Human made music evokes emotions that ai will never achieve because composers pour their life experiences into their work. Why are people trying to pollute the arts with ai slop when there is no need for ai at all? Who is this helping? It’s not “technologically advanced” or “keeping up with the times”, it’s just plain stupid. Music is what it is because of the people who made it. Shame on you Berklee.
