Berklee needs to take a stand AGAINST AI not for it. AI has no place in music, and we are here to learn how to make human music!

I am an singer-songwriter and beginner guitarist. The fact that we can now bypass developing and mastering certain skills doesn’t mean we should. The struggle of making music is what makes it more valuable in the end and no AI can replicate that.

Class of ‘25 alum here, very disappointed to see this college that I love embracing the biggest threat to art and expression of our time.

I place my hopes for future great performers to be trains in schools like Berklee. These classes break the cycle of talented professionals and means the end of original content at the highest level.

I have a few music degrees and this disgusts me. He should be teaching them to be better than the machine not how to use the machine.

What's the point of paying so much money into learning about music and such, then use ai. What a rip off.

Creativity is a fundamentally and inextricably organic and human characteristic that cannot and should not be imitated or duplicated by technology and algorithms.

AI has educational and academic research uses - generative composition is not one of them

Ah yes, because spending thousands of dollars in tuition for a music degree just to write AI prompts is a great use of money! Seriously? Legitimately disgusting and spits on the reputation of this institution, and spits on the foundation of music and all other art as well.

Wake up everyone. AI is not a future we should be working towards.

This completely defeats the point of music and makes a Berklee degree worthless

Music is human expression. Generated content using material stolen by hardworking artists is not art. Students deserve better

Why is a Tech Bro the president of one of the most notorious music schools ever?

Real musicians and composers don’t make use of AI, and never should. Do better.

I'm currently a student at Berklee and this is incredibly disappointing. I hoped to gain real skills from knowledgeable instructors providing a curated curriculum. If I just wanted to copy/paste generated content stolen from real artists, I could just do this directly without Berklee because I don't need to actually learn anything. If I can't figure out how to use Suno, I could ask Claude/Gemini/any other slop tool to think for me. I don't need to pay Berklee tuition money. This tarnishes the Berklee name and makes me strongly reconsider continuing my degree. Do better.
