No Gateway Shelter at Lovelace Gibson

I will support building the second homeless shelter in District 6 after they build the first one in Mayor Keller's neighborhood or the County Club or Tanoan or Albuquerque Academy neighborhood.

I have lived in PHNA since 1988; I agree with these neighbors comments - our friends and businesses have fled and all have been robbed and witness to gunshots since the City/County began placing social services on Zuni, Gibson, in Dist. 6 WE HAVE MORE THAN OUR SHARE OF THESE TYPES OF SERVICES SO DON'T SAY WE HAVE NOT. The City must respect our rights and grievances and place this much needed type center where neighborhoods will not be impacted AS THEY HAVE STATED. Please pay attention to our concerns. Please find another place for the homeless shelter.My home is Maybe 1 minute away from the old Lovelace Hospital.I already fear for my kids safety.We Already need to clear up our district.There’s a lot of homeless people already that have drug problems and alcohol problems.And also there is a elementary school and mid school near by we have to keep our kids safe.please find a place where there is no homes near by or liquor stores thank you.

We do not need this in our neighborhood. Safety is a huge factor for our residents and children in this residential area. Drugs, alcoholism, crime, we have more than our share already.

A more logical arrangement would be to build the shelter at the old Caravan East site and convert the ol Gibson Loveless into a library and close the old library on San Pedro SE

As a former resident of the Parkland Hills neighborhood, I am acutely aware of all of the issues that impact quality of life in this and other district 6 neighborhoods (crime, burglary, substance use, vagrancy, infrastructure neglect, systemic oppression of disenfranchised populations). I had the privilege of being able to move out of the neighborhood (after our home being broken into 3 time in six months) while pregnant with my first child. Many other families in this District, with children or not, do not have this privilege. People deserve to feel safe where they live and the City must be an active participant in making sure *all* their residents feel safe. Though I no longer live in the area, I know how much stress and anxiety this causes is an already anxious, stressful and unprecedented time. Please reconsider placing the homeless shelter in District; if it must be done the City needs to work with residents to make sure their fears and concerns are addressed.

Our SE Heights area already has multiple issues. We do no t need the problems a huge shelter in our midst would bring.

I live near Kathryn one block east of San Mateo . My house has been burglarized 3 times and she's once. Ive spent thousands of dollars that I could ill afford on repair, replacement and secrity. My next door neighbor was also burglarized 3 times and incurred similar costs. Homeless people are constantly walking up and down my street, along with the crooks who prey on them and us. Gunshots are A common occurrence. A facility in this neighborhood will be dreadful for our safety and security.

This neighborhood is already overwhelmed with drugs, homeless and crime. It is unfair to put more burdens on the people who live there. Care for all of ABQ!

I've watched my neighborhood go downhill in the last 10 years. Pat Davis has done nothing to improve it. Adding the shelter in our neighborhood will just make it worse. We are tired of dealing with the rise of homelessness in our end of town. Please find a different location.

Absolutely not!! This area of our city is already shouldering a disproportionate load. What happened to the "limousine liberals" of UNM?

The residents and service members who live in this area do not approve of this project and deserve better from our mayor.

Please move it to a different spot

Please do not endanger many citizens and their homes to help others. Please find an alternative location to house the homeless.

Please keep our homes safe. We just bought a house less than 1/2 mile from this proposed location. I would have never bought it if I would have known it might be chosen for a shelter. There are other places to build. We have children for goodness sake! Built somewhere that is not so close to children! That is completely possible !

The facility is not near any current medical facilities nor city transportation.

What area provides the most resources? Unlikely that the edge of town is a good location for those truly trying to get out of homelessness.

We would be better served right now by using it as an overflow hospital in light of the current medical emergency.

I grew up in this neighborhood and it makes me sad and angry to see how it has been going downhill. My younger sister and brother can’t even enjoy being outside. Please locate this shelter somewhere else.
