No Gateway Shelter at Lovelace Gibson

Our neighbor hood is currently plagued with violence, proprty crime and drug use, to put the homeless population in that environment is not a very thoughtful and protective thing to do. Please consider another location for their health and safety.

I oppose the gateway center being placed in the former Lovelace hospital facility on Gibson. This is a short sighted decision when experts are suggesting smaller and multiple locations across the city. The city will be creating increased crime, lower property valuation, and increase in services. The city is simply not in a position to offer the services to both the community and homeless population required by a large facility in this area as evidenced by the continuously high level of property crime, incidence of fire arm use, and management of Nisan right properties.

Do not open a shelter for the homeless in the Gibson Medical Center.

I would not like to see another trouble-magnet type of operation on Gibson, but would suggest that the city revamp an old plan for the city to use the property at the corner of Louisiana/Central, now the vacant building. Before CVS moved there, the city was strongly interested in using it for something. Now is a very good time for this to be looked into as a logical location. High visibility and traffic might encourage better behavior by residents being observed in a well lit area with very few other neighbors and the rest just commercial. Sounds perfect to me!

We already have considerable population on either side of our neighbor that contributes to property crime, violence and illegal drugs. Exposing homeless to this environment would not benefit their situation. Please reconsider Gibson location. Thank you

Too close to a huge park for sports and children. Needles on the field already. Need to protect our huge park.

As a 45-year resident, property-owning and faithful taxpayer in District 6, I strongly oppose the Gibson Blvd location for this much needed City shelter. My primary opposition is not solely founded in my love for Siesta Hills and nearby neighborhoods, but for the City as a whole, and for New Mexico. In my 30 years working for Sandia National Lab, I know first-hand that Gibson Blvd is used by our many stakeholders and partners -- working in service to the nation -- going back and forth between the Sunport and Kirtland Airforce Base. To date, many of these government and industry partners have commented favorably regarding our lovely airport and accommodating Armed Services partners at Kirtland. I fear that such a favorable impression will erode quickly if along this corridor these visitors witness a long stretch of homeless persons and their refuse. Many of these visitors stop for coffee or lunch along Gibson across from the old Lovelace facility. I don't believe we would be doing the neighborhoods, our Kirtland partners, the City or state of New Mexico any good by choosing this location for a monolithic homeless shelter.

District 6 says NO!

Please not in our neighborhood. It’s lately bad enough how they take ownership of our parks around us and leave do much garbage behind and more...

This District is being disproportionately burdened with the homeless solutions. District 6 and the old Lovelace complex is a very bad choice.

I would like the city to consider that located one block to the south and one block to the east are neighborhoods that have more than our share of problems with violence and a lack of respect for our area. I oppose the use of Lovelace as a homeless shelter.

Listen to the experts, and if you must ignore them and create a megashelter, do not do it in the same part of town that already has the CARE facility and the tiny house village. Why just the SE??? Pick somewhere less residential.

This International District is going to experience a very high amounts of evictions coming in April , I'm just 1 of hundreds going to be moving come the 1st of the month. Aim Properties is NOT OWNED by the city, which is what Mayor Killer is willing to help. Hope the slum lords down here have a GOOD PLAN!! Your going to need it!!

This neighborhood already has many challenges including break-ins. Also, the police don't respond when called.

This proposal would be devastating to those who live in and love the area you propose. Please find somewhere more appropriate than in a residential location where children play outside.

Two schools and 2 churches are in close proximity to the proposed Lovelace site along with senior citizen/disabled housing Our most vulnerable citizens will be dealing with many issues if this is chosen.

Look elsewhere-there is plenty of open spaces and sparsely populated areas to put the shelter. Our neighborhoods are barely recovering from years of neglect from tax dollars, police protection, etc. Our home values have recently increased even with all the adverse effects; to put the shelter at Lovelace would be the last nail in our home values progress. We are all aware of our struggles to have our right to "quiet enjoyment" and pride of ownership -this would put us way behind again. We don't want the crime or stigma that this would do to our neighborhoods and property values. Like I said-go back to your drawing board and LOOK ELSEWHERE!

I live where the homeless walk down my street everyday.... my grand daughter isn't allowed to visit my home because mom and dad are afraid of my neighborhood and that is it self is a crime. Please keep our neighbors safe and consider a different option.
